"I wish I could give BISSOH five stars, but the quality didn't match the price. The sushi was excellent and prepared in the traditional way, and the miso aubergine was creative and delicious. I also really enjoyed the plating of the deep-fried oysters--the shell atop packed salt reminded me of an ocean's cresting wave. Unfortunately the tempura was soft and tasted too much of the oil used for frying. The pork cheek, while tasty and technically well prepared, felt uninspired. The wine list is excellent."

"Near the centre of Beaune and was recommended by the receptionist at our hotel. The fixed price menus were very reasonable and the food we had was traditional to the area, ie. boef Bourgogne which was delicious, my husband had hake which was also delicious . To finish, try the assiette of desserts, it's yummy! The young staff here are very good and efficient and welcoming. Would recommend this restaurant."

"After a few days in Beaune, we decided to try something different.. what a mistake that was. They only have a set tasting menu, and when someone questioned if they could replace one of the items, they said absolutely no way. I was OK with...it, and was actually quite looking forward to one of the courses which was eel. There is 1 waitress serving the whole restaurant. We ordered wine, she disappeared for 20 min, and forgot to bring the wine. Unbelievably the same thing happened again after we reminded her. The pacing of the dishes is incredibly slow, and when the portions arrived, they were tiny. The sushi course is 3 pieces of sushi (I 'm not joking). Finally, after a couple of hours, when the much awaited eel course was supposed to arrive, the waitress brings us a much 'cheaper ' pork dish instead as a replacement (which wasn 't on the menu) , and rudely says 'no eel today ' There was no prior warning, no apology, nothing when we asked if they allowed substitutions when we entered the restaurant they had originally told us 'no way ', which made this even more bizarre. We were there for 3 hours due to the slow pacing of the dishes, and when the bill arrived at +100 euros/person, we couldn 't wait to get out. We complained politely to the waitress about the dish mishaps but she just walked away, extremely rude. I have been to many top real Japanese and Kaiseki restaurants across the world, and all I can say is stay away from this place. After this experience, why anyone would want to waste a meal here when in a place like Beaune is beyond me, there are plenty of other excellent restaurants offering good value, great food/hospitality and honest portions."
