"We had read 'foxbox17's' review and it convinced us to try Istra out, and boy are we glad we did! She was absolutely correct about there being a small language barrier (but everyone was friendly and we worked right through it), and it was great to have the warning about not having a menu and there just being water and wine. Which was fine with us because it made a perfect dinner! We had a seafood platter with fish, prawns, calamari, and vegetables; and it was delicious. We truly enjoyed the wine and the food so much, the atmosphere was lovely, and to top it all off, it was so reasonably priced. I would recommend Istra to anyone and would definitely go back if I find myself in Berchtesgaden again."

"We stayed at the Kempinski hotel for a weekend we tried the restaurant 2 times for dinner. The menu card is nothing special, the a la carte selection is very narrow. I ate a Wiener Schnitzel was ok but too much cover too few meat..for 25€ found it definitely overpriced. When we Arrived first we were given a menu card without any prices inside..when we asked what happened they realized they gave us a wrong card we received the card of the half-board guests, although nobody asked us before if we have half-board or anything! My boyfriend ordered a calf filet the waitress left without asking him how he would like the meat to be prepared. They gave us no wine card we had to ask for everything ourselves. We had 3 waiters during our dining and nobody of them cared about us to ask if we need anything. Service needs a lot of improvement, they are nice and very friendly, no question, but they are unorganized and unprofessional."

"It was quite late when we arrived at this restaurant and this was the most authentic as per review. We tried the beer to go with our dinner but none of us finished our plates. Too salty and pricey. We did not return to this...place after our first visit."
