"Excellent dinning experience. We went here the day before Thanksgiving and thankfully there was no lines. We had been in Big Bear a previous year for Christmas but there was a line out the door for this restaurant so we didnt go and missed out. We received Five star service and perfectly cooked food."

"This place is a hidden gem! The staff was friendly and we got seated immediately. They even gave our dog water without us requesting. The chicken Tikka masala is one of the best I've had. Their garlic naan was fresh and perfection. The lamb curry was also very tasty and rich in flavor and spices. I also had the mango lasso and it was delicious and not overly sweet. The food was ready very quickly. I highly recommend this place for a great change of pace from all the other overcrowded mediocre restaurants in town that make you wait over an hour to be served. I can't wait to go back every time I visit big bear!"

"We don't go out for dinner much because we usually end up disappointed with the food, service, and overpriced menus. But Captains Anchorage was soooo good, we went there twice during the week we were at Big Bear Lake. It is an old style log cabin type place that has been there forever. In fact, actor Andy Devine owned the place many years ago and there are still reminders of his influence throughout the restaurant including an old menu (fresh lobster salad for $1.50! . The menu now has a great selection of seafood, steaks, prime rib, pasta with salad or soup (amazing clam chowder , bread, potato included. We had prime rib which was tasty and tender, and shrimp tempura with their homemade tartar sauce. It was all excellent. Service was outstanding. Ask to sit in the bar where Lorraine is the waitress. "Great service, nice facility. Menu had a good mix of options, and the chips and salsa were fantastic. The chips seemed to season a little chili-calc salt, and the salsa seemed fresh and homemade, like a good pico. It is nice that you could get the Burritos Saucen Enchiladas style and both the red and green sauces were good. The green is as hot but not over tye top heat, so those who also like moderate heat should be good for the green. Highly proposed location"
