"We were camping with some friends in the South Downs area and booked this pub for lunch, we arrived wet and muddy from our 2 hour walk and Butser Ancient Farm tour but the staff were kind and accommodating. After our delicious lunch and drinks we asked if there was space for us in the bar area and they kindly moved us over and it was lovley, there was a warm fire and the staff catered to our every whim. After a while we moved out doors as the table was booked by other patrons, we ordered more food and drinks and it was all delicious and fresh. Safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would definitely recommend."

"Absolutely diabolical. Took over half an hour to bring out a slice of toast and a flapjack for a child and a subpar panini. Terrible slow service with unprofessional staff."

"The welcome and the service we received was very good but the food was not great, far too salty for my taste. In fact I was drinking water well into the night to compensate. My husband said that his meal was the same. The so called ‘white chocolate brownie’ was coated in brown chocolate sauce and contained the grand total of 2 white chocolate chips! Won’t be returning here again soon."

"We have been visiting the Cricketers Inn, Steep, for more than 20 years, off and on, according to what's been on offer. The pub has just reopened under new management, having been redecorated throughout. It looks amazing. The welcome was warm, the service was excellent,...as was the food, beers and wine. What more can one want from a pub? It was also lovely and warm on a cold summer's evening. Wishing you all success with this pub, which we love"

"The dinner here really enjoyed, but returned a few times to the breakfast, and both were disappointed. it seems to be many options, but a little more upshot in the execution is required. I avoid this place where you're looking for a good coffee! dinner was great with many options."

"Decent baguette and lukewarm coffee. The owner is a v passive aggressive chap who was incredibly hostile to a member of our walking group who admittedly joined us briefly with her takeaway coffee. It was the manner and approach which shocked us, in telling her to move on. Customer relations erm, a weak point."
