"A restaurant guide from Burg im Spreewald attracted us to the oldest guest house in the Spreewald. The Pohlenzschänke is located in a river of the Spree in the middle of it, my Navi knew the Pohlenzweg, but from there it is still 3.5 km cycle path, but for car is free as anchor. At the end of the way you reach a parking lot on the right side, the way from there leads along the water to this beautiful place, with an old house and a large beer garden. The house was built in 1930-32, the previous inn of 1900 was pushed back on rolls. It's pretty crowded around noon that wants to sit at 33° C in the hall or in the guest room? There are regional cuisine and day offers. Cream with linseed oil and potatoes took my wife, I chose bread with pork roast. The menu says: What makes the Spreewald strong? Salzkneedel, Leinöl and Quark (so on red shrub rings) for 8.60 € Our Spreewälder Fleischschniete (Butterbrot mit Senf, Gurke, Meerrettich und cold Braten) for 8.90 My wife drank a still water 2.00 €, I a Landskron Pils 0.33l for 2,80 € The drinks came fast, even the dishes followed quickly. It tasted very well, the portions also large enough at noon. Again and again the guests arrived with the paddle boat, popular with investors to return. The service probably had a bad day because friendly things are different. Overall but a great location if you want to visit the Spreewald in summer and not in the tourists Hochburgen Lübben, Lübbenau, Burg."

"In the last two years, a development has solidified, which had started with me earlier. That was and is the intention not to waste money in motorway stations. I drive almost 90,000 kilometers a year and spend a lot of time in the car on long-distance roads. And over the years the problem of gastronomic quality in the motorway networks has increased in the two years of Corona. Unfortunately, it must also be acknowledged that there is little reason for improvement for operators as long as there are many travelers who can submit the offer with joy and without criticism. I don't belong anymore. On my return journeys from Ostrava for a long time, because here, right behind the Polish border, not far from the A15 in the Spreewald, there are many simple gastronomic alternatives to reach from the highway. I often use Cottbus as an interim consideration, even in Lübbenau I have already done this. Lübbenau is also always a good place for a break on the way home. Just before the A15 reaches the A13 direction Berlin, leave the highway and after a few kilometers in the middle of Lübbenau. In the week there is always a place in the parking lot directly at the Kahnhafen and for 2 EUR you have booked enough time to recover. Another advantage is the tourist orientation of this place, which allows to find gastronomic facilities open on Tuesday night. Otherwise, it is now really complicated to return larger cities on a Monday or Tuesday night above the snack level. My navigation led me to 24. May again from the A15 to the middle of Lübbenau. Numerous farms are located directly at the port of Lübbenau. I had spent all day in offices and in my car and wanted to dine outside, even if rain threatened. My view fell on the outside of the flagship restaurant, the guest rooms are on the first floor over the offices of the Kahn companies. The outer area protected by large and stable screens is located directly on the edge of the water. A young man kindly received me and hunted my question for a table to feed outside. Dark clouds came together when I took place. And actually I studied the map as a short but heavy rain shower pulled over Lübbenau. Luckily I sat so that my table and I stayed dry. After 10 minutes it was over and the young man served me a soft pils. The view over the port became more suitable for the season. My order has now been made. It was May, so season. My choice was a fresh asparagus salad, with strawberries, with a balsamic cream, with homemade rye mustard bread. White asparagus found herself on the plate, somewhat too softly cooked for my personal taste. Strawberries were there, just as much delicious green salad. The Vinaigrette, beautifully sour and probably with a strawberry juice. This was very pleasant with the successful bread. I was happy with the start. For the main course I had turned to the fixed card, I was looking for a fish dish. If you sit on the water, the kitchen should be so good. Zanderfilet, delicately fried, refined on original Spreewald fish sauce, parsley potatoes and fresh cucumber salad with cream rich was the dish of my choice. After a reasonable waiting period and with a second non-alcoholic pilgrim (the wine card was uncertain) the young man served me my main dish. The first glance fell on the cucumber salad, which looked like a salad, only when the hours wait in a small bowl in the kitchen to be served. No longer really fresh with slightly dried surface. Menno, I thought of myself, why? He made no more joy. The potatoes tasted neatly with the part served sauce (no picture), which tasted after fish food and made joy. Well prepared also the floured zander itself. Not overgart, juicy inside, well made by the kitchen. This court disgusted me. And this is actually just laziness and larifari, such an unsightly salad on the plate. Dear kitchen team, only salad fresh in the bowl and the first impression is good again! Dessert still existed. Fresh strawberries with vanilla ice cream, peppermint sauce and fresh whipped cream should complete my dinner. Shit, I was still thinking about the dessert during the waiting period. Forget to disturb the cream. And so it came as feared, an overkill of cream on the plate. The peppermint sauce had made me order in combination with strawberries and vanilla ice cream. The cream is really unnecessary for me on such a plate. She had to go, then I could try. And without cream, the 3 components were well combined, I was satisfied. Completion with the third gear. The young man in the service had good to do with guests and the rain shower that met his terrace. In the rain capsule he managed the situation well. There were no complaints, corresponding tips made a happy smile on his face. Finally, the colleagues were always happy to return. I had read his report in 2016 during the waiting period. Also I wasn't fully satisfied, but forgive half a point more for the dishes that were okay. Also and only for the location at the port of Lübbenauer. But there are many alternatives in Lübbenau, on which I will make a comparative statement in the future. Shortly after 6:00 I sat back in the car on the way back to Münsterland."
