"Just expanded from what was a coffee shop, there is a sensibly limited menu which means that the food is freshly cooked, with attention to local sourcing of ingredients. The rearrangement of the furniture allows for more customers, but at present it is fairly quiet. Once people realise the quality of the food and the reasonable prices, I'm sure this will change. For now, it is a haven from the rest of the nightlife in the Ironmarket, and perhaps will need to attract people who don't usually venture into the centre of Newcastle in the evening. But it's well worth the effort you'll be rewarded with excellent food and courteous service, in a pleasant environment where you can converse without needing to raise your voice. So full marks for this new evening venue."

"Visited with family for Birthday meal. Nothing was too much trouble for our lively party which included 2 infants, the service was great, food delicious we could not fault it. We will definately be back without the children!"

"I and the woman are very picky when it comes to chinese tears. but this is a cut above the rest! beautiful staff (the woman on the phone always remembers my name,! eating is really delicious, and orders are always on time! very cheap, we will come again and again to make sure, can not recommend this youngs more 5 stars is mot enough!"

"I went for Sunday dinner with a family friend, the beef, stated as cooked pink was beige, chewy and flavourless, the roast potatoes are from a bag of frozen ones, the veg was potentially just brought to temperature, the carrots were raw, no idea what cheese sauce they put on the equally rock hard cauliflower but it was stringy and unpleasant, the regaled rich gravy was a bland watery grave for the dire plate of horror to drown in, the Yorkshire puddings were the pre prepped ones you microwave or briefly show the oven, no idea why beef is served with sausage stuffing, also not nice and loads of it, maybe to make up for the near £12 price tag, I’m no chef but this was horrendous, I was offered to speak to a manager or a free drink, we both declined, it’s better people are made aware than compensated, the Tavern needs to do significantly better, you can’t charge people for such terrible food"
