"Service was good, and pub is really nice inside. Food is very average, think Whetherspoons. Crispy squid was pretty greasy and had freezer burn. They can only do the burgers well done not medium, which means they don't meet the hygiene/processing standards to be served rare, so presumeably are from a packet. At £16.45 in a busy pub, it's a bit odd they aren't making their own fresh burgers. Chips came out cold, but were quickly replaced."

"It was my birthday so me and a friend went for a walk and we decided to pop in for a bite to eat as we worked up an appetite. We didn’t have a booking as it wasn’t a planned visit but the two ladies...at the reception area were friendly and accommodating. I’m sorry I didn’t take their names but it was Friday 18th November so whoever was on that shift were fabulous. They gave us a lovely table and one of the ladies showed my friend to the restroom as she had not been to the hotel before. Our Waiter Roberto was so kind and helpful. He arranged a birthday cake for me as I mentioned in passing that it was my birthday. And the cake was delicious. I do not have a sweet tooth but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Our food was spot on as always. I was ravenous so I went for an old favourite. The Waygu burger. There was a slight problem with my friend’s steak but the staff were quick to rectify it and she was super happy. We understand that humans can make errors but it’s how you rectify them that counts and these guys are 10/10. Lastly but not least… the cocktails. Delicious. I was only going to have one but we ended up ordering two each because they were so nice. Thanks Andre and the bar team. We will be back again with more friends. Thank you all xx"

"This was my first visit to this fish chip restaurant, as I was taking an elderly friend who has been many times before. I’m not a lover of fish chips, having had bad experiences elsewhere. However, I was most impressed by the friendly team and the fantastic way they looked after my friend. We ordered cod and chips, one small and one large, one with mushy peas and one with onion rings. The portion sizes were well worth every penny spent and the food tasted excellent. I loathe huge amounts of heavy batter, so I was delighted to find just the right amount, which was not oily. Chips were excellent. My friend enjoyed her mushy peas as much as I enjoyed my onion rings. We both had a cup of tea with our meal. Although we were going to go for a dessert, it was not to be as we were both full, and extremely satisfied!! I see from some people’s reviews that they are negative about the decor. Sure, it’s a little dated, but it’s absolutely fine, clean and more than serves its purpose. Likewise I see sone moan about the food. Speaking as I find, I had no qualms whatsoever. I’d definitely return anytime and I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone. As the restaurant now take card payment, it makes life so much easier. Well done to the entire team. We will be back, for sure!!"

"Tasty coffee and smoothies, lovely sitting by the lock on a sunny morning. The ice cream is delicious too. I have not tried the cakes but they look good. Also saw some people ordering sandwiches so may try that next!"
