"We were out with friends on a late Sunday afternoon, and decided to check out The Happy Shag for dinner. What a location...overlooking the Swan River great range of drinks and a fantastic menu that would satisfy most tastes...including great pizzas.I recommend the steak burger...and it was a real juicy tasty steak...none of those waffer thin excuses for steak meat here. It is the real thing. Also think the fish and chips, chicken parmagiana and the pizza are a definite choice - great serving sizes. Add really friendly team members and we had a fantastic time.Good music playing with a great vibe from the crowd... consisting of people of all ages...so its not an oldies nor a youngster hang out...great for all which was great to see.Thanks Happy Shag - we'll definitely be back."

"We went to Bluerock because we were staying across the road at Mantra on Hay. We were really disappointed, we ordered the special for entree - garlic chilli prawns, there were maybe 4 very small prawns that were seriously overcooked and I'm still searching for the garlic and chilli. Mains - the other three in the group ordered pork belly which was a bit salty but still ok, the chicken breast which was good and the steak which was ordered medium rare but was more medium to well done on the edges however it was still ok. I ordered the pumpkin arancini balls, 3 of them arrived so overcooked I ate 1 and left the rest. Finally coffee and desert - coffee I ordered a strong latte and I could hardly taste the coffee, we also ordered chocolate fondant and creme brûlée- the fondant was great but the creme brûlée was really runny so much so they didn't charge us which we were thankful for. All up for me it was terrible the other 3 enjoyed their mains but that was it. They didn't seem to have enough staff as we were left waiting way to long in between courses, we were served meals and then had to wait each time for cutlery and when we wanted to order dessert we had to go looking for a staff member to order it. We won't be returning to this restaurant, it is not cheap and the food and service just wasn't good enough."

"So disappointing. Have been coming for years to celebrate special occasions at the high tea but this was the worst experience ever. Food was limited and the service was poor will not be returning as management had no interest in our feed back"

"Stayed here 1 night, was good value compared to other hotels in the area. Was a good location near the WACA and there's supermarkets, pubs and eating option close by if you don't want to eat at the restaurant. Room was clean and basic but good. Just remember you aren't paying for 5 star luxury. Had everything you need in a room- tv, fridge, decent bathroom with hot water and aircon. Would stay here again if in the area"
