"Bamboo is located next to Portofino on the North side of the market - dining area of White Sands Grand Palladium Resort. It appears to me that Bamboo is one of the larger restaurants in this complex. You begin your dining experience overlooking a lovely Koi Pond and the large swimming pool, wooden walking paths with bridges over the water. You are served a light beverage consisting of a Mojito mix with green tea. This begins your Asian fusion cuisine. We ordered a plate of spring rolls, wonton and salmon toast to share. (We ordered the soup of the day, but our waiter was new and not very experienced, and the soup was not served to us, so I can not comment on that.) We ordered the teriyaki beef for the entrée. I love teriyaki. This was very good, served on a bed of steamed vegetables with white rice. The salad bar is plentiful with veggies and fruit choices. Meat on the salads included Thai seasoned chicken, turkey and Ahi Tuna to choose from. The sauces on the salads are very flavorful. No need to add the flavored soy sauces offered as dressings, but they are there for you to try to add variety to the taste. The sushi bar is fresh. Wonderful flavors. The desserts were disappointing. One of the dessert selections is ice cream. The night we dined there, the choices for ice cream were chocolate and strawberry. That's less than stellar. The other desserts were types of mousse and gelatins. I ordered the chocolate tart with lemon cream. I'm not sure what I got, but it wasn't a tart. More like a dense mousse of chocolate and a lighter mousse of a very light lemon. My husband ordered a banana chocolate dessert, but was served something different - another mousse type dessert. (Again our not experienced waiter. Not his fault.) The service was exceptional, even with the inexperience waiter. For a busy restaurant, we received lots of special attention. I recommend that you go to dinner early if you don't want to stand in line. The Italian restaurant, Portofino, shares the same entrance with Bamboo. You will have to wait in line for the people ahead of you who might be going to Portofino instead of Bamboo. That was a little irritating ~ Portofino is a smaller restaurant, so people are waiting to be seated. You can get right into the larger Bamboo restaurant with no or very short waiting, but you have to stand for a long time waiting for the Portofino customers to get out of your way. Management should think of a better way to get he Bamboo customers out of the waiting line and into the restaurant."

City: Grand Sirenis, In front of Police Station by the basketball court, 1 block North (Or to the right, coming from the beach) | Northest Corner, Akumal, Mexico, Grand Sirenis
"We visited here on December because we wanted to visit the pueblo to see the stunning murales, catch the pick-up for a tour of the Cenote Santa Cruz, and because we had heard that Taco Maya was the place to try if one likes...tacos. Taco Maya did not disappoint. The three of us got shrimp tacos, a taco carnitas, a quesadilla, and plenty of Diet Coke and Sprite in bottles. Fabulous. The shrimp tacos were to die for a delicious breaded and light bundles of absolute joy is a light and almost magical corn tortilla. I did not try the carnitas but if received rave reviews and was practically inhaled. The quesadilla was almost too much food, but was cheese deliciousness in a flour tortilla with tomatoes. Tomorrow is our last day here, and we plan to visit again as our last meal of tacos in Mexico. Doggies and friendly staff, and plenty of locals. We felt very much at home. Muchas gracias."

"We were staying very close to Que Onda and had dinner there on a Friday night when every place in North Akumal was very busy (including Que Onda). We could walk to the restaurant and it is not hard to find since it is very well lighted compared to everything else in the area. We had to wait for a table as there were several large parties so we settled into the bar and enjoyed the house margaritas (very good) and white wine. We ordered while in the bar and then were taken to a table before our dinners were served, which turned out to be very nice.Portions were generous with the pasta which is described as homemade is nicely cooked and the seafood prepared very well. Food was nicely spiced (not too much, but just right for our gringo tastebuds) and the ingredients were fresh.Service was casual, as we found every establishment in Akumal with no rush and also no urgency for us to vacate after we had eaten. They realize that most patrons are on vacation or retired and if you are dining at Que Onda you probably are not going to have any great rush to be someplace else, so enjoy a coffee and soak in the evening air and sounds. The outdoor seating was very comfortable and we will return on our next visit to Akumal. They do not take credit cards, so bring cash - either pesos or US dollars."
