"The place itself is very nice and authentic, the design is welcoming and they have those funny low tables for which you have to take your shoes off. The menu was big, plenty of vegetarian (and meaty) dishes to choose from. The only thing that was not that great was the slow service. We waited for an hour (really, exactly for an hour) until they brought the starters to the table. Then somewhere half way through the meal we ordered a glass of beer which never got to us. The waitresses were all nice and friendly, but it felt like they were a bit sleepwalking. Food was good though, no complains there."

"I have been a regular customer for the last years of this winebar somehow pleased by the cosy atmosphere of this place and the fact that is located close to where I leave. Friday of July around pm me and my gf...have decided spontaneously to have a dinner again without booking a table. When we approached the queue a very kind girl at the entrance gently invited us to seat on a table in front of the entrance. Due to the fact that outside was very windy and cold and the front door was open to allow the people to enter we kindly denied to seat on that table (for the above reasons) asking to sit at the bar to have or drinks (as allowed to the couple in front of us in the queue) while waiting to have another table later on in the evening. Suddenly the girl clearly annoyed by our request has decided to show all the empathy skills acquired in this industry over the years and claimed that if we did not want to sit on that table we should have left the restaurant as they do not like to move people around tables...!! Coming from this business many years and having worked as a waiter during my studies in a multitude of restaurants in different countries it is shocking how you can people can even call this behaviour service My only request was to have drinks at my expense while waiting for a table to be free later on in the same evening. I used to come to this place once a month with an average expense of euro per person when in and more when with other friends. This is the treatment you can get at the Vineyard in Hamburg even if you are a regular customer and horrifying it is actually a compliment. This is my first bad review I have ever left on TripAdvisor but it is crucial that everybody have a clear picture of the venue you are visiting before deciding to spend the evening and your money. From my side they will never see me again!"

"I promised myself a picnic by the water before I left Hamburg m and the spinach and feta casserole on the sign outside of this restaurant caught my eye. Made with potatoes, this meal was more than enough for one person and had plenty left over. Also bought a chocolate pastry that was excellent. The young people behind the counter the day I was there spoke English."
