"I must admit that we went to the Stickleback because we could walk to it along the Galloping Goose Trail, and we might get a seat on the patio (which we did when we arrived). We ordered two different fish sandwiches: salmon and cod. The salmon was good but messy as it comes with a fried egg, which is runny. Tell your server if you want it fried hard. The cod comes with a slice of pineapple. I almost removed it, but thought that I should at try it and remove it if it did not work for me. It worked well. Both sandwiches were very satisfying if messy. Add in some local beer or wine, and you have a very nice lunch or dinner. This is not a highly rated place in Victoria, garnering as many negative as positive reviews. However, we enjoyed our meal and would recommend the Stickleback as a stop on the Galloping Goose or on a day when you just want to have your meal on the water."

"Five arrive for lunch get seated promptly at a great table, pleasant attentive waitress. Then it went rapidly down hill after an hour and a quarter no lunch we finally catch our waitress's attention and questioned the lengthy wait, she explained that every thing is made from scratch, she said she would mention our exasperation to the chefs. We then over hear another table of 6 guests that were already seated when we arrived, complaining loudly that they just wanted to pay for their drinks and leave! With out lunch. They were convinced to stay. Our 90 year old Relatves also wanted to exit but finally food started to arrive with numerous apologies for the wait. Not acceptable in a venue with SHH's reputation. We are long time Sooke residents, and were married in their Inn. It will sadly be a long time before we return."
