"I visited Lake Charles for a work trip. My coworker who had frequented the area said there is nothing of note in town. Boy was he wrong! My meal at 121 Artisan was truly memorable. I got seated in no time at all (I got in at 5pm and beat the dinner rush). Then I ordered the Jucifer IPA, Killer Kale Caesar Salad, and Filet Mignon with Brown Meuniere Sauce and Asparagus. The drink was great. The salad (order entree size) was fresh, flavorful, and sufficiently dressed. The filet stole the show though as it was cooked perfectly medium rare (crispy on the outside, like actual crunch and moist on the inside). As far as I am concerned there is no reason to have any other sauce on the menu than the brown meuniere (they have a cilantro basil pesto, lemon butter, and marsala reduction). I am going back to try out other stuff on the menu. Please do yourself a favor and try this neighborhood gem out, too!"

"My fiancé ordered the pan roasted chicken. As this was a $40 piece of chicken, she expected higher quality. When she received her order, the chicken’s flavor was wonderful but way too dry to eat. Haley, our waitress, was quick to handle the issues, and a manager came to speak with us to make things right. We really appreciated this. We asked for a remake of the chicken to give it a second chance, and they graciously redid our order. Unfortunately, the chicken came out just as dry. I hate to give such a low rating because the staff was very generous, but the food quality was poor."

"Prices at Saltgrass are a bit higher than I am used to, BUT... The food was incredible. We started with a nachos appetizer and a fried pickles appetizer; both were excellent. The pickles were some of the best we've had. I got the Laredo chicken, which rang all the bells and blew all the whistles in the flavor department. The chicken was charred just right, and the blend of the poblano peppers, seasonings, and other toppings was perfect. My daughter got the potato soup. I hate to admit it, but I liked it better than my own homemade. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and had zero negative comments. Our server was spot on with his service of our table. Deducted one star because it's SOOO dark in there. I really like to be able to read a menu without the light from my cellphone, and even more, I like to SEE what I am eating. The presentation of your meal is also an important part of the experience, so taking away some of the visual appeal of what you are about to partake in is disappointing."
