"This is the best sushi place in Toronto, especially for the price. If you are a true sushi connoisseur, someone who loves sea urchin, fatty tuna and other incredible fish, this is the place.A Japanese friend introduced me to the chef's off the menu special. Whenever I call in an order, I ask for the Tomoko special. $38 dollars for whatever the chef has that day....a combination of nigiri and maki. I've gotten raw sweet baby shimp nigiri, sea urchin nigiri, real crab meat california rolls, fatty tuna with 24K gold, the list goes on and it's always a treat. I've had this calibre of sushi at Tojo's in Vancouver for 3 times the cost. It comes with fresh wasabi and the best soy sauce ever!My partner, who isn't a sushi eater, loves their special fried chicken. The ladies who work there may say they don't have chicken but ask them to ask the chef. It is amazing with their own spicy mayo.I have eaten in the space, there are 2 tables for 2, and the service was great. The Tomoko special came out in 3 courses and totally delicious.Best sushi for the best price in Toronto, if not all of Canada.My only tip is that the chef is always running behind. If you need to pick up for 5pm, tell him 4:30. Your patience will be well rewarded. I have ordered 6 portions for a dinner party at home and it has been a constant request from foodie friends."

"A truly hidden gem in the Village. Asahi sushi has some of the best quality Japanese I've ever eaten, with an unbeatable value for.portion sizes. Everything was fresh, satisfying, and perfect for whatever Japanese dish you may be craving. The young Korean waiter was friendly, personable and attentive, he really completed the experience. Next time we come through Toronto will definitely be visiting again! :"

"My wife and I went to a nearby museum. Price of food at the museum was just ridiculously expensive ($9.25 for a refrigerated turkey sandwich [in a triangular container]). We went out for food and stumbled across with this small restaurant. Food was OK, nothing that would wow you to come back. Price was reasonable, about $12-16 per person. Service was slow and lack hospitality. Atmosphere was a bit gloomy. No air con even on a warm and humid day. Can't say I dislike this restaurant, but I wouldn't highly recommend it either. By the way, they put glass noodles in a bento box. Right away you know this is not real Japanese food."

"This place is one of the Izakaya bar in Toronto which is very famous in Japan.The interior of this place will make you feel that you are in Tokyo especially the tables at the back of the bar where you are sitting on the floor...with your feet inside the opening underneath the table.We went there as a family celebrating my daughters birthday.It is a Saturday and the wait for the food to come is a little disappointment as it took forever but they were nice enough to apologize and gave us a couple of starters on the house.The food is great and mostly authentic,I know as I lived in Japan for 10 years.Overall,the experience is very nice!"

"My friend and I gave this restaurant a try while walking down Dundas Street looking for a place to eat. There is a great variety of options in the menu and the food itself is good overall. The service was prompt and attentive, and the place was clean, modern, and spacious. It is quite pricey for a cheapster like me almost $50 for three meals (without drinks) before tips. It wasn't particularly busy on the Saturday evening of our visit as only three tables were occupied."
