"- Very nice looking building- Lovely service (the service was so friendly that we ordered another round of beers)- Good schnitzel- Also has a section where you can sit in a outdoorish :) section with fondue on the tables.- If you are looking for a place to watch sports this restaurant has 5-6 screens.If I go back to Zurich again I would definitely visit this place."

"Das Essen war köstlich, jedoch war der Service zu wünschen übrig. Wir mussten über eine Stunde auf unser Essen warten. Es waren nicht so viele Gäste da, damit sich dies rechtfertigen kann. 2 Tische, sind nach uns ins Restaurant gekommen und haben nach uns bestellt. Beide Tische bekamen ihr Essen vor uns. Nach Intervention wurde unser Essen doch noch serviert, jedoch wurde ein Hauptgericht einfach vergessen. Der Geschäftsführer hat sich danach zwar entschuldigt und uns angeboten, wenn wir noch 20min warten würden, so könne er dies nachkochen. Wir haben verzichtet. Wir haben dann 2 Gerichte bestellt die schneller gekocht waren. Er hat uns erklärt, dass das Servicepersonal neu sei. 1 Mitarbeiterin hatte heute den ersten Tag und die andere arbeitet seit 1 Woche erst da.Durch die vielen Fehler die passiert sind haben wir erwartet, dass der Gastgeber ein Dessert oder mindestens ein Kaffee offeriert. Es kam gar keine Geste seitens des Restaurants. Uns wurde der volle Preis für unsere Konsumation verrechnet. Ein Trinkgeld gabs natürlich nicht!Schade, denn das Essen war köstlich. Aber am Service muss sehr stark gearbeitet werden. Ein Lächeln allein genügt halt doch nicht...."

"Had recently had a business talk at the asia dining in altstetten and visited us in the more well maintained part of the restaurant. the food was excellent and the service as well. the restaurant can also recommend for a romantic dinner."

"I was there with my friend from special occasions. it was a wish for us to go to dinner for a long time.We had extremely high expectations, which was perhaps difficult to bite. we were a little disappointed. the staff was extremely friendly and has also tried very hard. at the beginning we got a little broth with oil. it was excellent olive oil and broth, which I had also swallowed with joy. but in the afterth, I was a little disappointed that I had received nothing special.The food after that was very good, but a little lack of the wow effect. it was good to eat. but no more. my friend was a little more dissatisfied. that was just not enough for us for the price."

"Last year I learned Alpenrose had closed, only to learn it had reopened under new ownership this year. I wondered if this 2.0 version was as good as the original and booked a dinner reservation.The interior, which has the feel of a country inn, had been spruced up, giving it more charm. A bigger change was to the menu. Many items had changed, although Swiss cuisine was still the name of the game and it was now available in English.The meatloaf I had was very good and different from any that I've ever had in the states. The vegetables that came with it were less interesting, but fine. Dessert was fantastic as was the two wines, a white and red. Portions were filling, with prices moderate to high.While I didn't think the menu offering was as interesting as the original, I did think the service had come up another notch. A really friendly crew, who know how to take care of their guests. Alpenrose still packs them in, so I'd recommend making a reservation. If your using public transportation, Alpenrose is located near the Dammweg stop.Great to see this favorite restaurant of mine back."
