"Visited this morning for the first time and was really impressed with the service from staff who made us feel extra special and welcome- something quite rare in today's cafe scene. They were quick to accommodate by bringing out a high chair for my friend's baby. We were promptly served with menus and asked if we wanted to order coffee. I was quite impressed with my soy flat white. The breakfast menu was pretty decent and I decided to order the multigrain toast with a 'side' of mashed avocado (which comes with feta mixed through it). This was pretty tasty, although looked like it may have been sitting around just a little while as it was starting to go brown. But everything tasted good and it was just what I felt like. The others ordered the toast with vegemite and the 'boss breakfast' which appeared to have mushrooms, bacon and tomatoes served with poached eggs and toast. We paid individually for our meals and were asked how we enjoyed it and also thanked for coming. I felt like these small touches really made me feel enthusiastic about visiting again. I think Sunday early morning is a good time to visit as most people visiting are locals, as opposed to a busy week day with the number of medical centres in close proximity."

"The weekday set menu is excellent value at $50 for 3 courses, including a glass of wine. Starting with a selection of mezes including bread, dips, olives, kingfish ceviche, air dried pork and cheese pies, this in itself was substantial enough for a meal! The highlight was the cheese pie! This was followed by a beautifully cooked shoulder of lamb, accompanied by chips and a salad. Excellent!"

"Since we were here last time, this restaurant has undergone new management and it is just as good as before. The servings are very generous and the service is friendly and attentive. The ambience has a genuine Italian feel with knick-knacks from all over Italy. We had the calamari as a starter, which was delicious but really more suitable to a main course than a starter, and the beef cheek as a main, which was delicious! The panacotta with berry puree was divine, as was the ricotta cheesecake. They currently have a three course dinner offer on for $44 per head. We recommend it!"

"What an unexpected and really pleasant surprise Block 7 turned out to be yesterday. We chose this place DESPITE the name which concerned a few people in our group and so we stumbled across a place we will be returning to many times in the future. The dumplings were clearly home-made, fresh and delicious. The choices during the dim sum (or Yum cha, whatever works for you) were almost designed for every member of our family and we ended up getting almost every option offered to us. The Tea is fresh and uses leaves (instead of teabags) and the service was so good, warm, friendly and attentive. The ambience is nice, the seats are comfortable and the place was very clean. It's great value and the only reason we could think of for the one or two vacant tables was because of the restaurant name which even today still bewilders me!"

"The Butter Dish is a relatively new addition to the café culture of the Camberwell area. It's a little gem of a place. We had the following for breakfast, Soft scrambled eggs, chives, melting cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche Soft scrambled eggs , smoked salmon and rocket on sourdough They were both fantastic and full of flavour. The mushrooms on the side are also quite a delight. The winner in the menu however is the Croissant french toast, rose pana cota, baked rhubarb, meringue and white chocolate pieces. It is simply divine. The pana cota is simply perfect and well balanced. This is the item to have. Great food, location and the offering of a range of salads as a take away option makes the Butter Dish a place worth visiting."
