"Fabulous evening at Bistecca. I was stood up but it worked out great. A friend I hadn't seen in a few years was at the next table with her husband & we laughed & told stories til they were done dinner. Charismatic Katie was there took care of me as I patently waited to my date & then after he didn't show up. The heirlooms tomato salad is fabulous, fresh & not too heavy. The bison cannelloni was rich & comforting. Perfect for a cold winter's night. The portion was large so I have a meal for tomorrow too. Thank you Charismatic Katie for making me laugh & keeping me company."

"Great home-style Italian food. This is the type of place that remembers your name and what you like. Such a rare quality! We were met at the entrance by Mr. Matteo who we found out later is also the owner of the establishment. We also noted that he was an active owner and that always seems to have a positive experience since he's vested. I had the Veal Picata with a beautiful mista salad and my friend had the mussel appetizer with cannelloni as her main. Both were delicious and portions were of a good size to say no one was going home hungry. I'd go back without hesitation!"

"Used to eat here often when living in Edmonton about 5 years ago. Waitress remembered us, and the service was friendly with lots of thank you 's. They may have gotten a new cook though, because the food wasn 't as good as in the past, and there was less meat than in the former days. We were pleasantly surprised, however, with the streamed fish one taken from one of their aquariums. Very tasty, tho kind of pricey at $15 per pound. This one weighed at most 1 pound cooked, but they charged $30, maybe because she had estimated that the small fish in the tanks weigh about 2 pounds. Oh well we pay for our experiences. But on the positive side, their hot sour soup remains one of the best in Edmonton. And the sizzling pan of eggplant was quite memorable. Huge container of streamed rice was a bonus, enough for 7 of us eating. Cost was $130 before the tip, which was okay. They offered a Dinner for 4 or was it 5? But for the same price, we got to choose our favorite dishes. Will go back especially for the soup."
