"Four of us went for lunch, we were very keen and looking forward to it, noting the reputation of the restaurant. We had a very disappointing experience. The setting is lovely and it’s a very attractive place, but it was disappointing to find no one to meet and greet or seat us in the restaurant, we had to wait in the cellar door queue for 10 minutes to be seated at our table we had made a booking). This will sound needy, but we hadn’t been there before and weren’t sure how things worked. We were plonked on the table , asked what type of water we wanted then left alone. We waited so long to be spoken to by wait staff, we thought we might have had to get up and order at the counter ourselves. We chose the two course menu $60) and the paired wines $22) and ordered three sides. The entrees took a long time to arrive. The paired wines were on time for the entrees but never arrived for the main meal. We had to ask for them and ended up drinking them after the meal. Two of our party weren’t drinking wine, but they were not offered any alternative. Sounds picky, but when a soft drink was requested and promised, it was 20 minutes without delivery. These small things are frustrating and impact the experience you have. The main meals took a long time. We never received the sides, and once we finished what had been delivered we cancelled the order for sides, who wants to eat potatoes and salad well after the protein was eaten? The food? Delicious, the scallops and barramundi were divine. The service? Extremely average, have to say the young people working there were lovely but no manager was in evidence and they really needed a leader. Also surprised they used paper and pen, I would have thought a restaurant of that quality would have a electronic system this would also have helped to prompt staff to deliver wine, drinks and food on time and together. It seemed like the kitchen was a bit chaotic, although hard to know if the issue was front of house or kitchen. Would we recommend? Sadly, no."
