"This restaurant is located on the Trent-Severn water street, with a castle right above the road, so it is a perfect ride or boat trip for hütter. there is a beautiful waterfront step away and there was a boots festival with live music, so there is clearly a lot to explore and experience in the environment. the restaurant is super clean and well maintained. we sat on the terrace with a little view of the water, nice noise of rushing water just a few steps away, very relaxing after the sun the most of the day! the interieur had a nice bar and we were a bit early for the live entertainment that occurred later in the evening. our drinks came out immediately and we could participate in some great specials on beer and apps for the one-year jubilee of the restaurant. my bbq pulled huh sandwich was delicious (beautiful BBQ sauce) and was just the right portion size. from pulled pork to bbq huhn to fish n chips, all our meals were delicious. every meal arrived hot and the waiting period was appropriate. the friendly waiting staff came to refresh several times during our meal or bring more drinks to the table. if I had a complaint, it would be the portion size of the apps, my children remained to want more. but the meal size made more than for this. a great experience for huts and street tripers alike."

"Date of visit: Monday, Oct 9th, 2023Thanksgiving dinnerWe wanted to go somewhere to meet our eastern Ontario friends for Thanksgiving dinner. The restaurant we usually go to wasn't open this year for some reason. A quick Google search for Thanksgiving dinner gave us McGillicaffey's Pub as our option.I made a reservation to ensure we had a spot.When we arrived, we were quickly pleasantly greeted and seated.They had turkey dinner on special, meatloaf, and several other items.We had 4 turkey and one meatloaf.The meals were all beautifully presented and served piping hot.The food was delicious.For dessert, we had deep-fried cheesecake which was huge, candied apple crumble and pumpkin pie.The desserts were excellent and decadent. The candied apple crumble had actual candy caramel crackles, which was terrific.The service was exceptional. Our waiter and host (bartender/ server) were amiable and pleasant. We had a great meal and great service.What a lovely find.While we knew we wanted turkey, their menu looks so good we will return for some other options.Hastings is an adorable town worth exploring"
