"It's been my routine to go here for breakfast once a week, to the drive-through, and if there's someone behind me I'll pay for their breakfast too. Makes me happy, makes them happy, I thought it was a win all around. When I tried to do that this morning I was told that that the restaurant wasn't doing that any more, as it was a hassle for their systems. I felt really sad about that. I won't go there any more for breakfast. They make a good breakfast sandwich, but so does Timmie's and so does A&W, and I'm pretty sure those places will still let a person buy a stranger a coffee."

"Soup and bannock! What a great combination. I chose the clam chowder with bannock and it was a satisfying lunch at a great price. The service was good and the food came quickly. The restaurant is not much to look at but worth the visit for lunch. Rumor has it that breakfast is great too!"

"The staff is super friendly, the food is all made in-house and the interior is funky/interesting with lots of cool art and modern vibrant colors. Everything we ordered was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. This is exactly the kind of family owned business I love to support! Check it out if you're in Williams Lake and feel like something other than fast food."

"We went in on a Monday at 11:30. My wife had breakfast, I had lunch. Both were freshly prepared, made from high quality ingredients, and prepared to perfection. The restaurant is quaint in appearance, but the experience is high end. It is not fast food so go there when you can take your time, the wait will be worth it! It is as good as anything in the lower mainland and I've had over half a century of experience with those establishments."

"We all really enjoyed our lunches Hubby and daughter had beef dips, hubby was happy they had blue cheese dressing for his salad. Son in law and I had the Asian (cannot remember menu name) style chicken wraps, we were both happy. I ordered yam fries with mine and I must say, they were the best Ive ever had at a restaurant. My G&T with lime was perfect! Happy to have found this gem in Williams Lake. Will be back next time we visit WL for sure."

"I always get the impression Williams Lake doesn’t care for outsiders, like it keeps all its best aspects close to the metaphorical chest. Maybe this is due to how the highway snakes through the city, on the outer edge, taking a sharp turn away from the city’s heart. It reminded me of that town in First Blood, the one drifters are ushered through in the back of police cruisers. “You're asking for trouble around here, friend.” . It could and probably does have some of the best restaurants to be found between destinations, but tourists would never know about it. Normally, I would carry right on through, but now I have friends here. And atop of a very short list, we found the New World Coffee and Tea House. This adorable little café would be easy to miss…if it was located in Mexico. In a small town in Canada, it stands out a tad. Outside, green folding chairs and white-painted iron gates, inside an onslaught of lime green paint and stained wood. Local teas—at least assumed local—lined one wall. Unlike most cafes, where orders are taken from a chalkboard, New World offered a menu, and it became one of those rare moments where I paused to enjoy reading one. Nothing posh or condescending, charmingly humorous, the selection is extensive, offering enough to satisfy literally anyone. Sixty flavors of tea--and I believe the claim—are flanked with coffees, smoothies, and Italian soda. For meals, you have buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, stuffed with chicken, cheese, and…umm…chut…ney sorry, ran out of ideas there . All the options fall under being “meat things” or “no-meat things”, and I’m not being flippant, they’re actually listed on the menu as that. Each item ordered was delivered with considerable attention. Mine was a turkey and cranberry paninis with daily soup; the girlfriend’s was a Caesar chickened out wrap get the joke?! . Both were fantastic, though actually surpassed by the hot chocolate my girlfriend added, foamed with veins of cream and chocolate running down the glass. If this were dinner, I would have scored one of those amazing looking cheesecakes. One issue I’ve noticed about Trip Advisor, one of its biggest flaws unfortunately is that user reviews are skewed towards cafes and lunch stops. A posh restaurant, no matter how good, never rates as high as an inexpensive though praiseworthy corner-street café. But in this case, if the New World Coffee Tea House is the best café William’s Lake has to offer, than I am truly curious what others treasures are lurking about. In a larger town, I would see it still within the top ten. So many cafes in my town shortchange on some aspect, whether it be in décor, selection, quality food, or simple pricing. Being in a town of 11,000 people certainly hasn’t given the owners of New World Coffee Tea House a pass. I’m starting to see a trend where the best cafes are nestled in the smaller towns. It’s rather counter intuitive, and from my eloquent and experienced critical viewpoint, as one living in a larger city, that’s the stinkiest poop ever to come out of a butt. I’m sorry, that was improper of me. The point is, I will no longer—placing hand atop and swearing on my Dungeons Dragons Player’s Handbook—pass through the town of Williams Lake without stopping. I will stop, find a place to eat, and reach my destination 90 minutes later, because this place is worth it."
