"Goryon-san in the Hakata/Fukuoka dialect means “a lady of the house who attends to all of it’s household affairs” and the team at Goryon San in Surry Hills aim to be a lady of the house who cooks comforting and delicious meals and pays their guests the upmost attention. Goryon San definitely fulfills this aim: the staff are very attentive and helpful, the attention to detail in the fit out makes you feel like you are in Japan and the food is damn tasty.<br/ <br/ This relatively new Japanese restaurant is a Hakata style Kushiyaki restaurant that offers a wide selection of grilled meats and vegetables on skewers. I must admit that this was the first time I had tried Japanese skewers and I am happy to say I am a fan. The skewers are seasoned with salt (shio) or a tare (sauce marinade) and there are some skewers that can be topped with melted cheese like the LBP skewers (pictured) which are lettuce skewers wrapped in pork belly. My favourite skewers were the king prawn skewers wrapped in pork belly (pictured) as well as the scallops wrapped in bacon (pictured). <br/ <br/ It’s a fun place and great for a big group and they also have a good selection of sake, shochu and wine. And if you go, don’t forget to end your meal on a sweet note with the matcha tiramisu (pictured) which was absolutely delightful. #goryonsan"

"I love this place! Small bar with nice cocktails. It’s cozy and music is not too loud so you can just hear people okay. Their strawberry mochi ice cream is good."

"We have booked this place for 2 weeks in advance and the manager sent my friend several crazy e-mails that they bring to confirm their booking several times we finally come there, after dinner and the bouncer rejects one of our friends with zero statement And ensures that we could definitely not go into it, tells the manager that our friend goes to him (completely untrue), and the manager rejects us then give us the attitude of the boute 'attitude'. This was absolutely awful as we have made our efforts to get the booking first. I can not believe how demoralized this experience was and how rude was the staff. Bad shape. Do not come here."
