"I rarely review on any site, but I should have done this ages ago. Absolutely love this pub, especially for food. Prices are brilliant and you get great quality along with. I have had lunch here quite a few times and especially love the meatball sub after trying it yesterday, and the staff are always welcoming and cheery. If you want a pleasant lunch or a few drinks, give it a go, I doubt anyone would be disappointed."

"Visited Sunday 18/04/21 at 1300hrs We booked a table outside for Sunday lunch and we were greeted by a member of staff outside the front door who showed us our table We ordered drinks and food together. The drinks came quickly and the food about 15-20 minutes later. The menu was limited to Sunday lunch but we were able to order a hot beef sandwiches with fries which was delicious. The beef was slow cooked and soft with a fresh baguette. There was a generous pot of gravy for each meal along with fries. The food was served in a takeaway container which was expected due to COVID and allowed us to take some home for later. The food was reasonably priced but the drinks were a little expensive for basic pints of strongbow and moretti"

"It was very crowd. I love eating, less price drinks. beautiful atmosphere. the tables were not cleaned because it was too busy. the type that served the food. He's so good. best staff. good place if it's not busy."

"Went here for lunch the last 2 weeks when I have my grandson. The food was lovely the social distancing outstanding ,the indoor play area was open this week much to my grandsons joy it is closed every hour for cleaning.the staff here are amazing can not do enough for you and sincere and friendly attitude ."

"I ordered earlier today for tonight after work. An hour before I was supposed to grab it I got a phone call saying they would be closing early because they needed a break . I told them I could pay over the phone if they could leave it outside and was told no."

"Just arrived home from what I have to say was the worst meal I've ever had the pleasure of paying for! My other half has been craving chicken for a couple of weeks so I suggested trying the coffin club as we've not been since it changed from holy smokes and I'd read good things. I now feel terrible as the best thing about the meal was the service! We arrived at 6.15 and ordered 2 pints and a sharing platter. The lovely young lady brought the drinks instantly. At 7.00 she came back and offered potato skins and coleslaw as there'd been a mix up in the kitchen and our meal wasn't ready. At 7.15 our sharing platter arrived, disappointed does not even come close to how we both felt. The beef brisket, pulled pork and burger were quite nice, however no sausage as stated on the menu, soggy chips, chilli beef that tasted like bolognese (no kick at all! , terrible ribs and according to my other half the only place he's ever eaten that can get chicken wings wrong! We did let the waitress know as we paid and she did let the kitchen know however all she could do was apologise. Not her fault at all and she dealt with our complaint very well. With so many restaurants vying for business in Sunderland city centre right now I can safely say this is one to be put down to experience. What a shame!"
