That would bring a tear to my mother's eye(she grew up in Munich during the war), looks beautiful, and it brings back fond memories, as she used to make it when I was young. Sometimes it would be spaetzle instead of dumplings

• 1 year agoI DREAM of this meal. I spent 2.5 weeks in Thuringia, Germany my senior year of high school as part of an exchange program. My host family took me to Leipzig for a car show (seeing I was American, the guy guarding the roped off and new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren let me sit in it which was cool) and then to dinner at this awesome basement restaurant called *Auerbachs Keller* where I had this for the first and only time in my life. I have never seen it in any German restaurant I've been to in the states. So. Good.
