"Still as busy as we found it years ago, with families and friends teams from neighbouring areas. A couple of items were just perfect as we found so many four years ago: fiocco among pork cold cuts, tortelli (pear-shaped, with-a-tail , fresh ravioli-like pasta filled with cream, cheese and parsley), and picula de caval a horse minced meat ragout. Others were just ok. Most significantly torta fritta , the pork suet-fried puffed pastries that go with cold cuts and are the paragon of quality in this kind of simple restaurant were more greasy and less uniformly cooked than usual. The light, fizzy, simple and slightly bitter red house wine was a great match with the dishes. Cakes were fine and price was reasonable at less than 30 Euro per person, if not especially good given the quality. I hope they recover soon or this is a unusually average cooking day, as the full house would suggest."

"I was in Italy (Piacenza) last weekend (August 7-9) to visit some friends. They know how much good food and they took me to for an Apericena (dinner aperitif) to Gastromania. They booked in advance as the place is small only 3 or 4 tables inside and a couple of tables outside. The place is not really a traditional restaurant but a delicatessen store with amazing products. The owner Danio is such a nice person. He proposed you a set menu which varies according to the season. We had: tomini allo speck (a melted cheese wrapped with speck), mozzarella and anchovy, an outstanding carne salada (The carne salada is prepared by marinating beef in a wooden container filled with a brine containing spices and vegetables ... This maturing process keeps the meat very moist, making it particularly tender and very digestible) and we finished with a platter of cold cuts and cheese with red berry marmalade... What a delight! We opted for an organic white wine Malvasia Sorriso di Cielo 2019. Food was simple but so good. This is an amazing place for people who love real and good food. I will definitely come back when I return to visit my friend. Important: reservation is highly recommended as regular clients know the address. Though it is Covid time, the place was almost fully booked. For the 3 of us, I paid 60 Euros including the wine. A bargain! Furthermore, in his shop you had amazing products, wine, liquor that you would not expect to find in such a little shop in this remote village."

"Having driven past this trattoria for many years during my visits, I decided to stop here recently based on the excellent Tripadvisor reviews. The reviews were not wrong! We stopped at lunchtime and were seated in one of the small dining rooms other people were in other areas so we had the room to ourselves private dining in a trattoria. On entering we were welcomed by the friendly owner id also add that the place is very tastefully newly decorated and spotless. There is a special lunchtime menu I think it was around 12 euros but we opted for the days' selection. First was a plate of excellent local salamis accompanied but pickled mixed vegetable and fruit which was sublime , fresh olive focaccia and bread. Next was a pasta dish of filled tortelli which were again very good. We followed this by a meat course of roast pork, and post roasted beef which melted in my mouth. Fresh panna cotta and chocolate cake completed an excellent meal. Total bill came to just over 60 euros for two. Service was excellent and very professional. For warmer days there is a nice area outside with tables overlooking the wonderful piacentine countryside. I can truly recommend Trattoria della Pesa. It's located about 5 minutes drive outside Carpaneto in a very quite rural hamlet sat nav useful if you don't know the area."
