"This is a retrospective review based on my visit to the juni. my little group of 4 enjoyed our trip as part of a surprise trip to my mother's birthday. we went on Sunday midday and we are all pleasantly surprised by the good quality and plenty of food offered to begin from a drink, followed by a traditional frying dinner and dessert as well as coffee for afterwards. it is a relaxing 2 hours meandering through the Welsh landscape with an interesting (and sometimes humorous) commentary culminates in a journey over the famous pontcysyllte aqueduct, a world heritage. they actually have 2 driving over the aqueduct itself; a close to the end of the trip and then the boat will return before it returns to the wharf outside of trevor. the view over the valley below them, the surrounding hills and lush landscape are breathtaking and on 4 mph and with two trips over the stream at the sky, it offers many photo possibilities! I have the booking with peter a few days before gave him our menu options on the phone and found him and his staff on the day to be very friendly and attentive. I have read some earlier reviews that say that the cabin was very hot and packed with people, I feel that it could simply be the nature of the narrow boat? do not expect a modern yacht quality cabin, but I can imagine that it can be unlikely hot with the heat during the hottest days of the summer. on our trip I think they 're we're 6 set tables in the cabin and all had guests for the trip, but I and my party's once the feeling we're claustrophobic, but it's true the cabin is tight and intimate, but just as they expect to be on a narrow boat. there are a limited number of car parking spaces available from the caffe back on the wharf and where they can have a warm drink and light snacks while waiting to drive the boat. toilets also here. in the inner of the caffes there is also a small but very interesting collection of memories connected to the llangollen channel and pontcysyllte that I enjoyed to look through while we waited to order. at £28 p.p and the meal to be of good quality, it is the price I expect to pay for a good pub menu except for the changing beautiful landscape on the boat, so everything in all I feel it was a good value and I would spend this business for a very pleasant and lazy way a afternoon!"

"Driving through Shropshire en route to Glastonbury festival we came across The Last Inn, we rang ahead to see if we could park our campervan in the car park overnight and Jeremy and Karen were most accommodating, after a drink and a chat Jeremy showed us around the pub which is delightful and quaint with a lovely refurbished function room, we had a great night drinking and chatting to the locals, retiring to our van for a great nights sleep, the only shame was that we didn't have time to stay for sunday lunch which smelled incredible as we pulled away, we will definitely return!"

"Have visited many times over the last couple of years, but cafe seems to have become a victim of its own success. Staff and service only average now (previously lovely staff). Prices and portion sizes no longer represent value for money. There are better cafes further along the canal with nicer ambience and value for money. Shame really"

"Spent 4 nights there for our ruby high-time anniversary. had a nice room over the canal and a champagne and extra welcome in the room. we enjoyed every evening nice eating in the restaurant. all staff were very helpful and friendly, exceptional service by emelia in restaurant. we enjoyed the spa and our treatments were great. would definitely recommend and will return."

"Booked a vegan afternoon tea for two as part of our spa day at Lion Quays. Cafe was not busy, looked rundown a bit grotty with flaking paint. Waitress brought a small pot of tea for one and milk, we checked to make sure it was plant milk, but she looked clueless as to what we meant and took it away as it was cow's milk(! We waited over 20 minutes for correct milk, second pot of tea plates so we could finally enjoy our afternoon tea of 3 small sandwiches each (tomato cream cheese, cheese chutney, and cucumber , 3 little slices of dessert (fruit cheesecake, caramel cheesecake chocolate torte and a tiny fruit salad each. Overall, food was okay, but service was poor."
