"This place is one of the most accessible restaurants to us but we never had dinner there before, mostly we only go here for Yum Cha. The price is quite affordable and the place is clean compared to most of the Chinese restaurants here in Auckland but does how does their dishes compare to others?. We had dinner here with several friends, I guess we had 3 huge round tables at that time for us, my wife already pre booked the place and pre ordered so when we arrive they know what to serve us, no need to scour through the long list of Chinese Menus. Each table have at least one order of each photo below apart from the noodles where she asked for two."

"Their fish and chips special is really tasty but the chips are on the minimal side. It does take quite a while to get the order prepared so take that into consideration when ordering. We ordered when it was quite period. I would love to try the snapper next time around."

"Love this shop, this take away is so yummy and the food is great and fresh, always ready withing the time he says and the location is great also. My favorite is the Mussel fritters..delicous..chip portion is also great for the price."

"Service is good. I've only tried the fish chips and went hear after hearing about it from one of my friends. Nice fish, but very expensive i.e. I was only prepared to pay for one fish, if I wanted two, I would have gone to a restaurant as the cost would be the same. I'm fussy when it comes to good ole fish chips, cant't stand it when I have a coating of fat in my mouth after eating but this place did hit the nail on the head and no fat residue left in my mouth. Not sure I'd go back because of the price and I've found a beaut of a F C shop in another area of the shore that sells very tasty fish chips."

"Shanghai Chinese Restaurant (Shanghai Lou) is where my family goes when we are too tired to cook. The food here is consistently tasty and the service is quick. The sweet and sour spare ribs and spicy fish slices (although not spicy) are our favourite cold dishes and are a perfect starter for the evening. <br/ <br/ The Chinese rice cake was paired simply with pork and cabbage which was a nice accompaniment to the very flavorful hot and spicy chicken (for some reason not on the zomato menu). <br/ <br/ We also had the baby spinach cooked with preserved egg which was a nice change from your usual garlic stirfry."

"Haven't been here in a while so we decided to drop in. It's the same we place we remember this to be, mom and pop operation, good food, reasonably price. <br/ <br/ I got the bbq flat fish while rest of the family settled with bbq pork plus we threw in the spicy beef soup for the middle. Extra rice all around. As usual food was great."

"I have been going here since I was very young, and I love this place. though the prices are comparatively high, the food is much finer and in itself, already much more expensive than most Chinese restaurants. The lady isn't being rude, she simply doesn't tend to smile or laugh a lot. The barbeque pork is amazing, though not cheap, it is amazing. Their meat and fried rice, Fried noodles and quality is wonderful. Always a pleasure to be reminded of the good food in Hong Kong."
