"Our third visit to Lake Garda, but our first to Garda itself. Having just arrived, this restaurant seemed promising and in a pretty location on the lakeside. Beers were served only in 330ml glasses at a cost of €4.50, which I think is expensive. We...shared a pizza and a tomato and onion salad, which was heavy on the tomatoes, but light on the onions. The pizza was okay, but nothing special. When the bill arrived there was an item marked ‘coperti- 2x €2.50’ which turned out to be a cover charge. Apparently it was a charge for the napkin, cutlery and glass and for the basket of bread which was brought to the table, but was untouched. I don’t remember this ever happening before in the other lake resorts. I spoke to a lady in the hotel office and she assured me that it was perfectly normal. The mention of the charge, I discovered later, was down at the bottom on the last page of the menu. Having had a look at other restaurants, some do make a cover charge, but others don’t. I feel the cover charge in this restaurant is excessive and the food distinctly average. A family at another table sent two pizzas back because the base had been burned. We won’t be back."
