"After many memorable visits over the years, we. returned with friends to this restaurant on Sunday evening 28th August to mark the last evening of a lovely week in Normandy. We chose a 20E bottle of Loire red, which was delicious. The stuffed mussel starter was good. Everything else ranged from below average to poor. Sauces were heavy and thoughtless; the fish mediocre; the vegetables presented as compressed, congealed blocks; the fresh, balanced fruit desserts that we had had previously, replaced by pre-prepared, over-sweet concoctions more synthetic in taste than almost anything available from a standard patisserie. The menu could not offer a dessert wine and the waitress had no idea what such a wine could be. The dining room was almost empty mid evening yet still the service seemed inadequate. We do not blame the young waitresses for an experience that seemed from start to finish unmanaged, amateurish, careless and expensive. We did not expect nor receive any sense of apology or explanation for this costly disappointment. Next time, we will marvel at the estuary sunset from a public bench."
