"Ana Del Mar is on the east side of the free road through Primo Tapio. Look carefully for this tiny cafe, because it's well worth stopping. There are just 3 tables inside and 3 tables outside. An older couple does all the cooking, helped usually by a grand-daughter. You'll be offered some freshly made tortilla chips and 3 salsas: pico de gallo, a really yummy and spicy chile del arbol salsa and an avocado crema with a hint of spice. Dinners come with good old fashioned New England style clam chowder. This is real clam chowder, with plenty of clams and not overpowered by ham or bacon.Our favorite dishes: Camarones Papgayo - these are big shrimp, stuffed with chopped up shrimp and cheese, wrapped in bacon and fried. These ping pong ball size balls of oozing goodness are served with a fresh green salad on the place. Filete Veracruzana - OK I'm a sucker for really good veracruzana sauce and their's is phenomenal. It's served over a super fresh lenguado (Pacific Halibut) fillet. Camerones Diablos - don't be afraid to order these pecoso. Very flavorful. Fish sticks - I don't remember what they call them on the menu, but it's wonderfully fresh lenguado with a panko crust. They serve fresh tortillas along with bowls of rice and beans with the meals as well.Dinner ranges $10 - $15 USD and that includes the clam chowder, salad and entree. It's a pleasant little hole in the wall, where everything is clean and fresh and the people are happy to see you. Sit back and watch the ocean across the road. They are open from 8 am - 8 pm, closed on Thursdays."
