"We visited this restaurant with a large family group of fifteen, from Switzerland, England, Scotland and Czech. The table was booked well in advance. The weather was really fantastic for late September so we decided to arrive a little early and have a drink sat outside. When we arrived the five children were excited to see some animals and the owner met us and wasn't at all concerned that we had arrived early. I noted that the large outdoor area was deserted but thought nothing of this. The owner opened a side door and two large long coated dogs charged out. This was the area we were then shown into for our meal. The room looked nice enough although it was filled with dead stuffed animals watching our every move. Then it hit me, the restaurant stank of dogs; these dogs appeared to have had the run of the room we were sitting in for our meal. Then the owner listed off a list of what he wanted us to order. Oddly enough he only had ten portions of the main course left, odd indeed since there were ten adults in our group. He was not at all keen to let us order from the main menu since he proclaimed to only have two staff. He then chastised one of the children in our party in a very aggressive manor. I wasn't aware that he had taken an order at this point for the kids meals this only became apparent later. Now we were all noting how bad the restaurant smelt of dirty dogs. We asked to move, the whole place was empty so this shouldn't have been a problem but the owner was rude, unhelpful and aggressive. At this point we phoned an alternative restaurant and told him we were going elsewhere. His reaction was in my view utterly unacceptable, in the UK I'd have called the police. He demanded we pay 80fr for the kids meals. I wasn't even aware they'd been ordered and it seems the short staffed kitchen had miraculously made five kids meals in five minutes! They simply couldn't have been fresh. In short the restaurant stinks, I stood and watched the dogs urinate up against tables in the outside area and I don't care which country you are from that's simply not acceptable. The owners attitude stinks like his restaurant; he's rude and aggressive, he's sure to go out of business very soon."

"I happened upon this place by sheer coincidence while hiking and feeling rather hungry. Since the local restaurant Sonne chose to ignore me (even though I arrived there during business hours), I walked on discovering this little bijou hidden away in a tiny side street off the main road.Run by a very energetic and friendly elderly lady, the place has three sunny and peaceful outdoor tables and an inside area that feels like a private dining room - which it probably is, but no worse for that. You will get anything from coffee, sweets, ice cream to sandwiches and the like at any time, but the hostess also usually has some hot home-cooked lunch waiting for the passer-by. That day, I happened to have a craving for both coffee and gherkins, so I asked whether she would humor me. No problem at all, as it turned out, and within five minutes I was served a beautifully arranged plate with slices of cucumber, tomatoes and bread, a cup of coffee and a chocolate egg. Upon asking for the bill, the hostess only wanted to charge me CHF 4.50 - in Basel, you'll easily pay as much for just a cup of coffee!Very recommendable little place, indeed; friendly, quiet and personal."
