"Places like this used to be all over France but they are becoming rarer. I happened on it as I was looking for somewhere to have lunch and it was perfect. It was a baking hot day with temperatures of 30C. Inside the beamed and very traditional dining room was cool and comfortable with a mix of people that you would never get in GB: there were eight middle-aged men who had all been out shooting perhaps on the array of muddy quad bikes that were parked outside, there were two tables of genteel older French ladies a party French Sunday-lunchers and me. One delightful waitress, who was no chicken, looked after us all with no problem. She was brilliant. The food was good. In unadventurous mode I went for the excellent home made pate, cote d'agneau, delicious cheese and finished with creme brulee and coffee. It was perfect. I shall try to time lunch or dinner to coincide wth passing through Sainte-Seine-l'Abbaye in future."

"When I was working in Pouilly-en-Auxois for 2 weeks, I was taken to this restaurant for lunch what an excellent place to eat! The food was freshly made on the premises it changes every day it tasted delicious. People from all walks of life eat here I can see why they do. The location is next to the Burgundy canal close to Chateauneuf-en-Auxois is very picturesque, especially in the summertime. I highly recommended this place I would love to go again!"

"An exceptional setting in a castle, lower room with large windows overlooking the park, or a superbly highlighted cellar. We were greeted very pleasantly, were able to take the aperitif and consult the menu without a particular lounge before going down to the table. Then we went back to the coffee salon. We never felt like we were pushing out, although we had a quiet lunch time. A very friendly service. I highly recommend! Bravo to the whole team!"
