"Was staying in the village of Denstone so decided to try this place for some food. Choice was not extensive but the homemade steak and ale pie was really tasty. The burger was slightly burnt and disguised by turning it on its side but did...have a really nice taste. The gammon dish was really tasty as well."

"Great day out, cheap deal on Merlin pass, otherwise very overpriced. Nice walks and attractions. Pays best off weekdays and out of holidays to avoid big queues. Visit of castle should be a must and lovely walks in gardens. Good food options."

"Decided to try the Bulls Head in Alton on August 1st wish we'd never bothered really. There wasn't many people dining some of the meals others had would have easily been enough for 2 people. I ordered popcorn prawns with sweet chilli sauce mayo (never saw any) to be fair they were nice. Choice was limited i chose a Greek salad to accompany my prawns what a let down it was. The salad consisted of about 70 olives, what seemed a full pack of feta, a few thin slices of tomato some finely chopped onion. It was so bland watery nothing like a proper Greek salad should be. My cousin lived in Crete for years hers taste a million times better (not joking either). 2 stars due to the prawns being ok (otherwise would be 1 star). Sadly, we'd hoped for better."

"Not having been for a while we ended up visiting three times within a matter of weeks, the first two occasions with family and friends and then in a party of a dozen or so relative strangers. The good thing about the C&H is that it's very reliable. There's always plenty of choice and the already extensive menu is augmented by a frequently changing specials' board. Focusing on the group meal it was impressive to see such a diverse range of meals brought out at once, to the same high standard, as none of the food had been preordered. Service was excellent polite, courteous, helpful and timely. I think that's all to be said!"

"Stayed last night in log cabin 4,from arriving to departing,everything was perfect,the log cabin was clean and very well equipped,the heating was on so it was lovely and warm...all very clean,we had so much fun in the jacuzzi,and had our meal in one of the pods,again was very warm and they also provide blankets.the food was the best I had ever had..I can’t recommend this place enough...we have booked back again to stay in the cottage next month...5 star!!"
