"Just 100 m from the front gate of the palatial Villa Contarini, the Osteria Al Majo offers cusina tipica at a bargain price. For just 10.50 Euros we enjoyed 3 lovely courses all cooked by Mama plus wine and coffee; in some ways it was better than any meal we had in Venice and the first time on our trip that we encountered service with a smile. There was no menu and we only understood a third of the information although the lovely, friendly waiter did his best to explain in English what was on offer. There were several choices for starter, main and dessert. All were cooked by his mother. We shared a delicious gnocchi primi followed by a nice, thin steak (he made sure to tell us this was thin) with a choice of vegetables. If we had understood the other choices we probably would have tried something else but we enjoyed this dish too. Our other main was not part of the set menu but, when we were told it was the house speciality, we had to try it. A lovely, creamy fish dish with polenta for only 13 Euros, we would certainly have it again with pleasure. We shared a creamy tiramisu to finish. The wine included with the set lunch was lovely too, and the espresso acceptable. Ladies' toilet was spacious because it was also the disabled toilet and both men's and women's were definitely clean. Not surprisingly, this modest but happy place was popular. Every chair at every table was taken. Cash preferred, pay at the bar at the end."

"The setting of this Agriturismo is simply stunning the river that runs around the grounds and the wildlife that we saw created a wonderful atmosphere. The fact that we ate outside meant that we felt right in the middle of the country, and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset whilst we ate. The food was quite expensive, but was delicious. I would especially recommend the vegetarian carbonara made with courgettes instead of bacon and the polenta. Both were excellent."
