"After your tour of the auction rooms and cattle market what better way than to head for the most rustic and ‘locale’ of the three restaurants in the village. It seems all the farmers, buyers and sellers head for lunch here being lower priced and right next door to the market. A great venue to sample basic fare lunch with the cattle folk…..for a 16 euros formule menu you get access to the salad buffet as much as you can eat which has a large selection but like the equally varied dessert buffet it pays to get in early as farmers have an eye for value and huge appetities! Mains are typically a range of charolais beef steaks that seem to get cooked the same way regardless of how you request it, but generally good quality, very tasty and nicely cooked. There 's also an a la carte selection available. Worth it for the value alone and for the experience, if you fancy something a bit more up market try one of the other two, but we thought it fun and satisfying."
In nice weather you can even have something in the outdoor area.

"Having watched Rick Steins secret France program we went 100 miles out of our way to have lunch here...checked on Google to make sure they were open. They are closed ..but are to lazy to amend google maps...I get fed up of this lazy approach to informations."

"Saint Christophe en Brionnais, marché aux bestiaux réputé, n’attire pas que les professionnels de la filière bovine. On vient aussi dans ce village situé au cœur du charolais pour manger une viande d’excellence. Mais, comme dans tous les endroits touristiques, il faut redoubler de prudence au moment de choisir une table. Le plus proche et le plus voyant n’est pas forcément le meilleur choix. Je ne saurais trop conseiller aux vrais amateurs de viande et de convivialité de s’éloigner de quelques pas du centre pour se retrouver au Domaine de Noyer. Loin de la foule, dans le cadre accueillant d’une vieille ferme parfaitement restaurée, la maîtresse de maison vous reçoit avec simplicité et gentillesse. On se sent immédiatement à l’aise et, ainsi placé dans les meilleures dispositions, l’estomac est prêt à se régaler d’une entrecôte qui frise la livre sur la balance ! Les bœufs sont élevés sur l’exploitation et la viande est maturée quatre semaines avant de se retrouver dans votre assiette. Cuite à la perfection, la gigantesque entrecôte était accompagnée, le jour de notre passage, d’un excellent gratin de pommes de terre et d’un gratin de courgettes. Pour vingt-cinq euros, dessert compris, je doute que l’on puisse trouver ailleurs meilleure proposition. La cave recèle quelques très bonnes bouteilles mais le vin biologique local est un choix pertinent pour s'allier avec légèreté au bœuf charolais. Pour conclure, je n’insisterai jamais assez sur la gentillesse et la disponibilité des propriétaires qui nous ont fait visiter les lieux et, notamment, les chambres d’hôtes qu’ils ont aménagées avec goût. En reprenant la route, je pensais déjà à revenir au Domaine de Noyer et, cette prochaine fois, y passer la nuit. Je n’ai aucune hésitation à recommander chaleureusement cette adresse."
