"Good honest scoff served here. The salad bar for starters offers something for everyone, choice of mains and a good choice of deserts. Vin compris and cheerful service made for a good time. Busy with locals enjoying their meals - fine dining this isn't....but a great example of what makes France different from the UK. The interior decor from the 50/60s now about to come back into fashion adds to the ambience!"

"We have eaten here many times during its rather varied management history.I reviewed it in January16 just before it closed and so it should have done as it was hopeless. I learned it had reopened a little while ago and so finally revisited it last night with the expectation of a good meal. Our party of seven ( there were a further 6 diners in the restaurant) were greeted with great fanfare by the owner/manager? who showed us to our table with all the bonhomie of a crazed trapeeze artist on speed!He disappeared shortly after this never to be seen again presumably because whatever he was on was wearing off.The menu is somewhat limited kicking off with a 25 euro menu a 35 euro menu and a 45 euro menu. Each of them not much different to each other but with slight variations on the theme.We all made a variety of selections. A small plate of gesiers was delivered to the table 2 each,what the French do with the inside of an animal never fails to amaze me. However there were not for me nor a couple of the other diners.Some had ordered fois gras . It arrived, Not having the benefit of a magnifying glass it took a little while to locate said offering on the plate. When it was eventually found it turned out to be a small piece(very small) lightly fried,we think, and all curled up at the edges. Not a good start. The main course arrived. Three diners had ordered lamb,Two had fish and I had duck breast. All three lamb had to be sent back as inedible due to undercooking, Rose is OK raw is not. Three plates eventually came back from the kitchen bearing no resemblance whatsoever to the food that had been taken away. One diners lamb was still undercooked. It was an undercooked rack of lamb when taken away but we could not work what it was when it came back as there was no sign of the bones anywhere.My duck again almost raw and tough as old boots but with a very pleasant sauce. A tiny bit of potato and a couple of shallots.Crepe suzettes were ordered, they were no where near as bad as my previous experience here so that was ok. No cheese course offered or available.We asked for coffee two with cognac and two with Contreaux. They had cognac but nothing else. No baileys, no Cointreau,No Grand Marnier a prettty dismal effort really.In terms of ambience They have taken down the higldy pigldy arrangement of dreadful pictures and replaced them an ordered layout of even worse pictures, they must scour the country brocantes for terrible paintings and it would appear that they have now cornered the market in said artistic endevours.There is a huge fireplace in the dining room and the fire was alight when we arrived but it went out half way through dinner and none of the staff noticed so we asked for wood and one of the guests got it going again with the eventual assistance of a waiter who fanned it with a napkin. So for romantic ambience it doesn't score very highly. Our table was near a door with a big glass panel in it, or it should have had a glass panel but that was missing so there was a howling gale blowing through.Would we go again, NO, Fine dining ? definately not"
