"Loves the henhouse, especially because the staff is very good, friendly and happy to chat a little. eating is great and in many portions I never let hunger! there is also a good selection of drinks. on Friday they have a musician and it is an open slot for musicians to apply. it's even paid. the music is not so loud that it spoils the conversation, and it is great to see restaurants that try such things that also supports the artist. their burgers are also better than any of the "Gremet" offers elsewhere in the city."

"Did not meet their deadline (after altering it serveal times) and was without cake for most of my birthday. Mad Cakes dealt with this situation very poorly with poor customer service with unprofessional comments including why would a year old be bothered'. When cake...arrived it not satifactiory with polystyrene keeping it together and it did not fully follow the brief. it's the only cake we had so had to deal with it, but it has created an upsetting situation on my My advice? Avoid."

"I booked a room here for my parents a couple of years ago and they are pretty fussy people but so far they have stayed here 4 times they come and stay twice a year now and I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. If my parents go back and they are happy then I am too because they are pretty hard people to crack so well done guys for making my parents feel special everytime they are there."

"We were early for our meatball lunch so this was my 1st breakfast here. Very well priced. We had a sausage and mushroom bap each. The queue was big. Only two serving but very friendly. Queue for coffee machine too."

"Since my last visit more than 3 years ago I was pleasantly surprised to see some vegan options on the menu. the wild mushroom spelt risotto with vegan parmesan and rocket was very tasty and perfectly spiced, and the breakfast of avocado on sourded, with mixed cherry tomatoes and a salsa was also well seasoned with a good kick of chili and chalk. plant milk from mandels, soy and heifers were offered together with the milk free spread to the breakfast. updated by previous review on 2021-11-24"

"We were seated and the drinks order taken, I ordered 2 refillable soft drinks and some alcoholic drinks. When the rest of our party turned up about 5-10 minutes later, the same waitress came over to take more drinks orders, however we were still awaiting the drinks from the first order. Eventually the drinks turned up and the waitress took our food orders. I was the first to order in our group of 9, I ordered the bird surf and turf. The waitress asked how I would like my steak cooked and I answered. She then took my partners order of surf and turf, although she didn’t ask him how it should be cooked. A rib eye steak was ordered next and for this one the option of how it was cooked was offered. The rest of the meals were taken down and eventually they came out. Three people came over with chicken skewers, we explained we hadn’t ordered that but we were waiting for my meal. The manager came over with the skewers and I explained again that I hadn’t ordered that, but I had ordered bird surf and turf. She disappeared and came right back telling me that my order had been put through incorrectly and she could get my meal cooked but it would be about 8 minutes. I asked how that could have happened as the waitress took the order down and even asked me how I would like my steak cooked? Why would she ask me that question if I had ordered skewers? She refused to give an answer because she didn’t see the order being taken. I said fine, please cook my food. I asked her what she was going to do to make this situation better? She asked me what I wanted and I told her I WANTED to know what she was going to do to make up for the error. I also explained that not once did anyone come over and check for drinks refill and as we weren’t allowed to leave the table we couldn’t go looking for a server so refillable wasn’t really as it stated! She started to get really aggressive telling me that human error can’t be helped. I explained that I appreciated that however this was the first time in 4 years that we’ve returned to the malthouse because every meal in the past has been screwed up and it always ends up being my meal. She threw her hands in the air and said “I tell you what, let’s just call it a night! I am too tired to deal with this! I don’t need this tonight” she then turned and walked off, I said that the way she had behaved was highly inappropriate and unprofessional. She said “I don’t care, I am too tired to deal with this crap”. She made it very uncomfortable for both tables, the people still eating didn’t know whether they were supposed to stop eating or if they could finish. My sons burger was over cooked, as was the rib eye steak and the steak on my partners plate was burnt on the outside and completely raw in the middle, and the surf on his plate turned out to be three prawns!"
