"Out of 11 days in Madeira we must have eaten here 7 8 times! The dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. Black scabbard and banana was a favourite. Bruno, the owner, is a fabulous host and the waiting on staff were all brilliant. We are looking to go back for New Year. Fully recommend Real Canoa. Different entertainers each night. Got all the diners in the holiday mood. Every day I asked for Mixed Berry Cheesecake. I got it on our last night delicious!! Well worth the wait!!"

"I really want to say something nice about this restaurant as we were recommended to come here by a local. My husband dish was cod (15 Euro) and it was delicious. HOWEVER, my lamb dish (12 Euro) was a HUGE let down. How so ? The 3 pieces of lamb chop were hard like rubber. I tried my best to chew them as I was so hungry and also tired from the long hike, but it’s just impossible to swallow. I have never been served such bad meat before even in touristy places.The waiter clearly saw me spit out the meat and he didn’t want to come ask if everything’s okay. I wanted to say something but I thought it won’t make a difference but ruin my evening. Anyways, fish is gorgeous but never ever order a meat dish.
