"Sur la place principale, à deux pas de l' office de tourisme, une maison est un peu en retrait, à côté de la tour qui fait l' angle de la ruelle .On nage dans le 16ème siècle avec des murs en pierres très épaisses et toit de lauzes.Nous sommes comme dans un décor du moyen âge; on verrait aussi bien aussi bien des chevaliers , des nôbles allant aux croisades...Tout à existé ici..C ' est impressionnant...Bref...portail et volets bleus.en point de repaire..Ce sont les panneaux multiples qui ont attirés notre attention et le côté ''décalé'' en ce mois d' avril , froid et pluvieux.....Si on allait boire un café ?où un thé , où un chocolat ??.. c ' est pas un bar...on gravit quelques marches, un peu timide...on frappe à la porte et on rentre dans la demeure de Jean Pierre Lagane..C' est troublant et on se retrouve dans une grande salle chargée de souvenirs, c' est le moins qu' on puisse dire..Quelques tables, chaises, fauteuils pour déguster les breuvages..délicieux..servis dans de la porcelaine, eh oui...Mais , surtout trouver une personne qui va vous raconter la vrai vie dans cette petite ville assaillie en été par les touristes..(normal , c' est très beau , très authentique) C' est un café littéraire-Philo et il me dit que les étrangers connaissent bien ce genre d' endroit à travers le monde, mais que les Français sont plus timides ...''Il y à ceux qui franchissent l' entrée et les autres qui partent en courant '' me dit-il en riant.Merçi Jean , sexagénaire , optimiste et rayonnant, aidé par son Amie, Bernadette .Un moment de partages intenses , hors du temps et des moeurs du ''vite fait, vite parti. Ici , on vous écoute , on vous raconte ce que vous voulez savoir.C ' est magique et le temps passe trop vite !! Nous sommes venus , nous étions des inconnus et somme repartis comme si nous étions des Amis depuis longue date..C' est magique! Il existe encore dans ce monde ce genre d' endroit .Voilà , c' est fabuleux.C ' est ouvert l' après midi.Moi ,je vous dit ''Allez- y , dépêchez-vous'' Je suis encore sous le charme en écrivant ces lignes et j' ai bien du mal à expliquer cette expérience profondément humaine....Alors , osez pousser la porte.."

"Quelle halte charmante et délicieuse ! C'est dans ce cadre magnifique que nous nous sommes arrêtés le 23 décembre. Et ce fut une chance.. car la "grouillante" Salers de l'été est malheureusement vide de ses "marchands du temple" et de ses visiteurs en hiver. Aussi, rares sont les établissements ouverts ! L'hôtel crêperie Saluces était de ceux-là et c'est tant mieux ! Un accueil charmant et délicat, une table confortable, des cafés délicieux... nous y sommes même revenus ! Des crêpes gourmandes choisies parmi de nombreuses propositions toutes plus séduisantes les unes que les autres. Un vrai bonheur que cette étape !"

"Our first visit here. Very friendly reception. We chose the menu of euros with a very fine entrée with local goat-cheese. Also the main menu had regional quality, which we emphasized by drinking the regional wine, a fine Auvergne-wine from Boude! What I also...appreciate is that there is a list of fournisseurs from the region along with the menu! We will surely return to this lovely auberge!"

"Salers is a beautiful, if touristy town. It has many restaurants, but if you are looking for something other than the Auvergne staples of pancakes, truffade and ham the field is a lot narrower. Having checked over the menu, L'Evasion looked like it could offer something different. The set menu was slightly over 20 euros - more expensive than the competition, but more interesting. The trouble was, the starter (falafel) did not appeal to me. I asked if I could change that for one of the other starters on offer but was told very firmly that I could not mix menus. Why? If that is what makes the customer happy, then why not let them. I fully accept that I would pay more, but the waiter was not to be moved.As other diners came in they would be shown to a seat but then made to wait some time for a menu. I noticed the waiter twice take menus from people after they had ordered and walk back to the bar to put them away instead of giving them to the new arrivals who in one case he had to walk past to get to the bar. After receiving a menu there would then be a ten to fifteen minute wait for the waiter to take the order.My wife had the set menu, which she very much enjoyed. I went off menu and ordered the croustillant de gambas. This was lovely - stir fried vegetables in a sort of crispy tube with gambas and a thai-style coconut milk broth. As my wife could not eat all of her main course (salers beef with lentils and aligot) I helped out. It was also very good. Her desert was a sort of cheesecake with ice-cream whilst I went for the excellent cafe gourmande. I can't really fault the food. With an apero, a glass of wine and a coffee for my wife the bill was about 60 euros. Quite expensive by local standards, but worth it. The quality of the food deserves a "good" rating, but the service, I'm afraid, drags the overall rating down."
