"Excellent food, all beers excellent, two need to be pointed out especially: the brown beer following the bohemian style, which is not so common in Austria, and the midium, the first lager style beer with less than alcohol I ever drank, that was really...good, no reason to drink a stronger beer. You visit Freistadt you have to go there. Unfortunately I found out too late, that they serve starting at p.m. a second unfiltered beer called Kellerbier from a wooden cask so I cannot comment on this highly interesting beer. The only point of discomfort was to find out that after consuming beers, two starters, and two main courses, they also charged the tap water. Do not get me worng, I do not complain that the price was in general too high, for this quality there is no reason to charge less, but a few decades ago in Austria it was the standard to serve tap water automatically as a free addition to beer or wine, a sensable tradiotion, whichis widely lost, but charging tap water, if the customer does consume a decent amount of food and drink, is not at all accaptable, therefore no chance of a fifth star. Sorry!"

"Edit due to owner feedback: I had to repost my review from a while ago; so the menu may have changed; doesn 't change anything about my experience at the time. The food was presented nicely, but unfortunately the taste was disappointing... there were three of us and we all had the same opinion. The Caesars salad with chicken breast had hardly any dressing on top and what little was there tasted like nothing. The beef burger was okay, but far from a highlight. Unfortunately, you didn’t taste the slightest trace of the garlic aioli and the meat was far too well done in my opinion. The sour cream dip that was served with it was also quite bland. The California chocolate cake was the worst though. Apart from the fact that there was no mention of coffee in the cake anywhere on the menu (which I would have liked to know as a non coffee drinker), this was by far the worst cake I 've eaten in a long time. In terms of taste, it didn 't taste like chocolate or coffee and the consistency was somewhere between hard and rubbery most likely comparable to a 1 week old cake that was warmed in the micro. But the service was quite friendly and quick, you have to give the restaurant that. For me, a small minus point here was that our reserved table was given to someone else after a few minutes of delay due to traffic jams... All in all, no recommendation and we will probably not come back any time soon. It 's a shame, because under the previous management we were very enthusiastic."
