"We (two Americans and three French had taken a look at castel clara, but were drawn off from the high trips. we found le goeland by chance when we walk around le palais. it just had a good feeling, so we were read without prejudice or...awareness. (today, while I wrote this review, I discovered that le goéland has a Michelin plate. Although it started before the actual early season, it was almost full. the service was friendly and attentive. we spoke mainly in French, but the American who spoke only English was helped in English. the menu described the names of their students, almost all local. most fish and seafood were local and very fresh. all the portions were generous and contain slightly cooked, fresh organic vegetables. large desserts, although we only have two and shared. we have tried choucroute de la mer (Alsatian style sour wort with husk and fish; fills the bar (similar to sea bass grilled on wood or charcoal (not briquettes in open fireplace; poached turbot; and two other dishes, a seafood and a fish. the bar (my plate was perfectly cooked, not so easy on an open fire, each dish had a delicious sauce, e.g. hollandaise. the bill was 33€ per person, including a modest amount of wine. the cheapest menu in castel clara was 95€ not included wine. we might have had more courses there and more exotic ingredients, but I doubt we would have been more satisfied. this was a perfect meal simply cooked by local products."
