There are a few shops the biggest being ot the south side of the town the factory outlet) Its got a swimming pool and gym visions) a few cafes and...many take away shops. Theres also a museum The Baird) Theres an active history group who have created a guided walk leaflets available) Its in walking distance of Dumfries Estate, driving distance to Auchinleck Estate and has easy access to the countryside. The River Ayr walk passes through. There are a couple of hotels in the centre and a few pubs if you want to stay."

"Great service from the high house cafe. Fantastic fish and chips to be had. The portion sizes you get for the prices are great value. Try the lemon gougons, they are my fave :D would definitley recommend!"

"We finished our visit to Dumfries House here. Very popular with lots of visitors. Seated outside in the sunshine, we ordered a latte and a mocha, with a cherry and white chocolate scone. Yum! Staff were friendly, prices reasonable and good selection of foods light snacks, cakes and drinks."
