"We stayed in the nearby Hotel Nuit de Retz. A very short walk to the Restaurant Auberge. Quite a large room but lacking just a little in character. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I had the whole crab starter (see photo) which was very well presented and was fresh and flavoursome. The restaurant did not supply the cutlery pick normally supplied with crab or lobster, which was not such a good decision, and I was left only with the cracker and a knife to do the business. My partner had a foie gras de canard which was good. For mains, I had a ribs dish which was tasty. My partner had a brochette which was pleasant too.My partner's desert was very large (if a little over sweet).The service seemed to drop off a little when it came to trying to get the bill. The staff seemed distracted by what was going on in the adjoining bar. However, all in all not a bad experience, and better than we expected. Not unreasonable value."

"We had a good stay at this hotel. They put two rooms together as a family of four. The breakfasts are good and the pool is nice. A good size hotel, not too large. Good value for money. As an English family we would like to thank Ben for being helpful at all times. We would stay here again if in the area. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great value"
