"First time here and found out Sherwood North only opened 10-days ago as the new owners took over this historic property. Wow! We have been staying in the area for 4 days and had been to numerous restaurants in the area. Hands down this is the best that we have been to. We started out with appetizers. I had the Pickled herring platter with pickled vegetables and crispy bread and pâté. The herring was two different ways and was accompanied by pickles, pickled onions andcarrots and crispy bread. The pâté was the richness needed to cut through the acid in the pickled vegetables and this plate was extremely well executed. It was the first time that I had seen pickled herring on a menu in the United States.I looked up the menu online and saw this item and made the decision to have dinner here based solely on this appetizer since I have never seen it outside of European countries. The second appetizer we had was the Brie Brûlée Board. Itfeatured toasted Brie Cheese, Crocotini Crackers, dried fruit, nuts and jam. The Brie was perfectly toasted and the jam was absolutely delicious with the right amount of sweetness to complement the cheese. The mildly acidic olives providedthe perfect balance point to counterbalance the sweetness on the board. The third appetizer was the Popovers served with honey butter and bone marrow butter. They were steaming hot and absolutely delicious. We actually used some of the jamfrom the Brûlée board and combined it with the honey butter and it was insanely good (I would ask for some jam it goes so well with the popovers). The popovers are a MUST HAVE! For a main course I had the pork chop with Apple horseradishglaze. This is honestly the best pork chop I have ever eaten. The bone in pork chop was perfectly glazed then grilled and it had just the right amount of char to allow the glaze to sear on the outside. "Our server was wonderful!! The only thing I would have liked is lower lighting. I recall the last time I was there, candles were on each table and the lighting was dimmer."

"Even though he was the only waiter working the night we dined at CRU, Joshua was attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The meal was prepared perfectly and the lobster bisque soup was incredible. Although we miss the original CRU menu from years ago, having an Italian option while we stay at Grand View Lodge is great and there's just enough variety on the menu to please everyone. We've come to expect nothing but the best when dining at any of the Grand View Lodge restaurants and CRU met those expectations. As seen elsewhere, prices on the menu have climbed, but the quality of the food makes the extra expense worth it for a special night."

"Stopped in at Cru with a party of 7 for dinner. Cru is ostensibly one of the nicer dinner options at the Grandview Lodge, but I was thoroughly disappointed with both the quality of my meal and the service that was provided. You 'll note that on the menu, Cru invites you to Enjoy your first (bruschetta) on us. At the start of our meal, our server brings a plate of 6 bruschetta to our table and leaves. We clearly had seven people at the table. So someone just doesn 't eat one. We weren 't going to call someone over to the table over one piece of bruschetta, but that set the tone for what was a thoroughly forgettable meal experience. Throughout the meal, the server just kept acting as though they were just going through the motions instead of responding to what was actually needed or wanted or was happening at the table. I ordered the Cioppino, which was very unsatisfying. The meal was not substantial at all. Many of the pieces of fish were served with just the shell and no actual fish inside. A piece of advice to Cru: this dish can be improved by serving it over pasta. At least then customers can eat the pasta and not leave the restaurant hungry. Save yourself some money and skip the meal at Cru, my experience there was very disappointing and I would not recommend it at all."
