"Only open a few weeks Restaurant Vingt Neuf is already making waves amongst other top restaurants in Saintes. Subtle english touches shine through from the start such as homemade marmite butter! A trio of excellent canapés kicked started the evening. Starters and mains were excellent too. Apple Soufflé, always a tricky dessert to pull of but we needn 't have worried as it rose higher than the Eiffle Tower, not too "egg-ie, and full of flavour. Coffee and Mignardises were very good too. Service was friendly and efficient by a waiter who spoke very good English."

"We dropped on here by chance on a lunchtime walk up. Situated slightly outside the city centre, close by the river and a convenient car park, it 's a respite from the hustle of the city. The menu and the restaurant looked attractive, and you can dine...outside. The food was excellent entrées of cauliflower velouté and a fantastic beef cheek with foie gras; mains of mackerel and confit chicken both perfectly cooked and packed with hidden delights and flavours; I finished with a 'Bounty style dessert ' which was actually deliciously toasted coconut topped with dark, dark chocolate. Excellent value at 20€/23€ for either two or three course lunch menu. Accompanied with a glass each of Charentais wine (notably an interesting house Colombard) and coffees, the bill came to just over 60€. Chef Michael and his staff are very friendly, and present a quality that tells of his experience in high end kitchens. Excellent food at a great price, served in pleasant surroundings. Can 't wait to return. Absolutely recommended"

"We have enjoyed dinner her many times the magical setting and usually delicious food is the reason we stay here. Our latest meal was delicious and service just the right. The dining room is agreeable at any time of year, but on a warm late summer evening with the doors to the terrace open it is stunning."
