"Wonderful location, very nice decoration and lovely atmosphere. Yet the food was dissapointing, it was nice, good food but it did not fulfill our expectations for a place (and prices) like that. It was average food that you can find in many other restaurants. And I must insist, food was OK.First course was a bit short (3 asparagous) not appropiate for sharing, second was adecquate amount for one person; don't expect the usual Portuguese amounts. Prices are a bit high but not expensive if you consider everything."

"We visited the sister restaurant Donna Maria recently. We are regular visitors to Carvoeiro visiting at least twice per year. Sansibar was one of our favourite restaurants. We assumed when we visited the renamed restaurant that the food and service would be of the same high standard. The restaurant was very quiet but it still took over one hour for our main courses to arrive. The food was bland and unappetising. The waiter who served us was very apologetic stating that it was the second chef that was on this evening. The restaurant manager spoke to us but he blamed us for our choices and really was not interested. We feel that this restaurant does not add to the high standard of food that we have come to appreciate in Carvoeiro. Suffice to say we will not be returning and will certainly warn our friends and family to do the same."

"A really good restaurant with a friendly, jazz-loving waiter and a talented chef who really knows what he is doing. Good to know - the chef has a relative who is coeliac so has a sound knowledge of gluten-free food. Delicious steak cooked exactly to our taste and the following night a sort of timbale of cod with lots of flavours. One of the tastiest main course salads I have ever had - you have the basics and then choose an extra five ingredients. I had it the next night as well because I expect it will be quite a while before I find anything so good. I tried the chocolate fondant one night and the caramel one the next - can't say which was more delicious. Poor coeliac had to make do with ice cream but never mind, he is well used to it. Great food while we were staying at the nearby Solar de Serrade, we will definitely eat here if in the region again."
