"I came to San Martinho a little nervous seeing as I had come to Portugal and was worried about the language barrier, etc. I saw this place and decided that it might be an easy way of slipping in. Wish I hadn't bothered. I wasn't...massively impressed that I seemed to play 20 questions with the owner about where I was staying etc. Nor was I happy that he stood over me having a loud phone conversation while I was trying to enjoy my drink. However I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as the food was ok and it was the first day of my holiday. Then I spent the rest of my holiday trying all sorts of local restaurants in San Martinho and outside. Please ignore the ex-Pat comments and anyone saying they eat there lots of times. The locals in San Martinho are some often kindest and most friendly people I have ever been served by. Not everyone of course, but for the most part, I was given some of the best food and drink I have eaten in a long time. And so much CHEAPER! I paid €2 for a Tosta Mista (ham and cheese toastie! in the Sailing Club which was a 5 minute drive! Why go somewhere and eat at the same place all the time. San Martinho and the surrounding towns and villages have plenty to offer everyone! If you want a drink, go to any of the others. Want a decent meal, go to Portobello or Pesce no Prata. You'll enjoy yourself much much more."
