"We were booked for dinner by our hotel (their kitchen was closed) - and what a lucky night this was. To celebrate my Mothers birthday we has a special dinner in mind, and it turned out to be a very special meal indeed. From the start with a beautiful aperitif and starters of a dozen Escargot with a herby/garlicky 'finger licking' butter and a brown shrimp soup to a loin of winter cod and a perfect steak, followed by a lovely cheese and an absolutely perfect rote gruetze this was a meal to dream about for days to come.We had some lovely local wines and a pear williams eau de vie to round up the dinner.If you are anywhere near Freinsheim, it is VERY advisable to make reservations & have the days menu - you should not be disappointed"
