"The restaurants is located a short distance from the entrance of the abbey which is the town's main attraction. It serves local cuisine and is vegetarian friendly. Outdoor seating is great in summer and offers good views. I was visiting the abbey and dropped in...for a quick lunch before visiting ordered a Vegetarian pie which was delicious. Service is good, staff is friendly and prices are reasonable."

"We were 2 x couples cycle touring and we dropped by for breakfast on a day’s rest. The waitress was surly and difficult and only 3 out of 4 meals turned up even though we had ordered all the same. We had to ask for...the 4th breakfast and by the time it arrived, the other 3 of us had finished. No apology of any worth. The food was ok, but no more. This was a real lowlight after the fantastic service and food that we have had everywhere else in Austria."
In pleasant weather you can even eat and drink in the outdoor area.

"Really nicer place, the service is fast and friendly, two vegan options marked clearly on the menu (tofu with sweet and kartoffels and a creamy mushroom pasta). "We didn't get to eat at the restaurant for dinner, because it was closed on Sundays, but we met the new owner and chef, Maximilian, when we had breakfast at the hotel. What a charming and personable fellow! He has come down from Brittany to pursue a different life, and made us some of the best croissants we've had in either country, plus a sample of a special private fruit spread he made that was unbelievably good. Eggs were done cheerfully and exactly to order. We were even offered schnapps with expresso. Hope we can return to see what he does with the dinner menu!"

"We found this restaurant last night of our trip. What a shame. A small, traditional Austrian restaurant. Intimate and comfortable in the front part of the restaurant. A friendly welcome and excellent service. The real star was the food. On this trip we have... in Salzburg and Judenburg. The food in this restaurant hit the lot. A dish of smoked ham, salad and goulash, lined with apple strudel and coffee. It was great. When we get back to Melk, we'll certainly eat here."
