"Had a bottle of her weine for lunch in watervale and thought we would like to taste more of her wein. it was checked that her cellar door was open what it was after website. the journey back to clare. all look good, a few sandwich board signs that lead us to the cellar door. these signs said the cellar door was open at 16:00. it was 2:30 when we arrived. cellar door was not open, but had a sign to either ring a bell or make a call. I did the last. the owner answered, he went back and the cellar door was closed. he would only open for sale, but would not do tasting, despite signage saying that tasting was available. we have to miss it despite every intention of buying. rather poor form here. recommend they try elsewhere as we will be in future."

"I dined at Skillogalee recently to celebrate my Mum's birthday. When we arrived they had made an error regarding the number of people in our group (we booked for and they had us down as which they immediately acted as though this...was completely our fault (it wasn't) and it would be a huge imposition to add extra seats to our table. It took a long time to get the extra seats sorted out so people were standing awkwardly waiting for chairs. Service stayed poor for the rest of our lunch. The food was great, for the prices I would expect much better service than what we got. We struggled to get anyone's attention to order drinks, and then when we did order drinks we had to follow up as they took a really long time to come out. We didn't have drinks until we had almost finished our mains, and then I had to go inside to find a waitress to order dessert from, as we had to get to another cellar door booking. One of the ladies who served us was lovely, the others seemed to really dislike us for no reason and were very rude any time we asked a question (eg when I asked for bread rolls as they didn't bring one to everyone on the table). It was almost comical. There are much better places to eat in the Clare Valley, that actually want you there, so I suggest avoiding Skillogalee for the time being."
