"Tucked in the Sannio hills is a medieval contrada that has been turned into the perfect place to escape the city and bring your family and friends to. The numerous buildings have been restored into an agriturismo that exemplifies the concept. From the animals in the barns to the giant herb garden to the potters studio and the path to the river, Borgo Cerquelle will keep your family entertained. The bedrooms are family centered too. When ever we have out of town guests which usually means from the USA we bring them here for pranzo. The three plus hour lunch is made from things grown and raised on site or locally sourced. No frozen, pre made anything served here. Everything is fresh and scrumptious. The antipasto contained local cheeses, meats and vegetable stuffed rustico . Not one but two different homemade pastas arrived served family style. Yummy! The local wines were perfect for the meal. Next came roasted meats and vegetables. No food is rushed out. There are welcome pauses between courses so we could walk out onto the balcony and stare at the mountain. Desserts are accompanied by after dinner liquors made on site. We tend to stare at each other when ever we come and say did we really just eat all that? We did because it is delicious and we will again !"
