"Heard quite a good deal about this restaurant and was very excited to eat there. The food was ok, a lot of effort put into it. Some tasty and well elaborated dishes, others not so well. The service was great, nice young people serving, with quite some experience in regards to wines and ingredient combinatons. I found the room environment odd. The foor in wood was slipery, not great for highheels. A mid light in the room would make quite a difference to create a more intimate environment."

"During a schoolcamp with a Swiss primary school we stayed at le soliat for one night and had dinner and breakfast there. I will beginn with the positive. The food was not bad and the location is certainly great. The location is probably also the...reason why this place is still in business. The stay there is extremely expensive and we were only willing to spend the money because it was supposed to be the highlight of the camp. From the beginning when we arrived the staff was terrible. Our group was not welcome there at all. The employees expected that all the 22 kids (arround 12 years old) in our group should be quiet during the whole stay. The noise they created was average of a group this size and certainly not over the top. Even the only other guest we saw at le soliat during the night told us it wasnt bad and that it didn't bother her at all. After beeing at le soliat for about 3 hours we were repeatedly threatened very agressively that we would be thrown out if the kids were not quiet. This was also noticed by the kids and they started to feel scared. What should have been a fun last night and a highlight of their school camp became a nightmare for many of the kids. I would never ever go there again and I will also tell everybody that goes to the creux du van that they should avoid supporting a business like this."

"The title says it all. Like a lot of little lakeside places in this part of Switzerland (we used to live there), these places tend to vary and are often better known by locals than by visitors. Which is fine and in the summer,...when people flock to the lake, tourists discover them too. This one is clean, the service is "smiley" and was fairly rapid (mid-week, on a showery, blustery day). The lake fish (palée in Neuchâtel, féra in the Canton of Vaud) is a whitefish that is delicious, and ours was perfectly cooked, and a generous portion including some excellent, fresh vegetables. This fish is often served with plain boiled potatoes, considering the fish is cooked in butter and we should have gone that route. However, it had been a long drive through rain and wind and hail, and we really, really fancied the comfort of French fries. They were wonderful and crisp, but the portion was gargantuan. Not a criticism, just an observation! After ten years away from Switzerland this was good, typical, local Swiss fare and we enjoyed it. Next time, however, I'd opt for plain potatoes and a plain green salad: we paid extra for a small "mixed" one that was good, but also filling. For what it's worth, the pizzas looked great, and the place was really full, despite being mid-week. The terrace was closed because of the weather, so that made a difference. Probably worth reserving in better weather and during the holiday season"

"In the afternoon after km. we were on friendly and efficient way within min the bikes were in storage and we were in our room with a bottle of cold water. the room was large, bright and decorated. with taste. the bathroom was large, bright and the shower excellent. everything was clean and comfortable. now the restaurant. it is a very interesting, old place. the main room is decorated with diekmal and reach the terrace that they need to go down a staircase, under the kitchen. There you enter the paradies of a semi-wild flower and plant garden with view of the lake. that was extraordinary. ziegenkäse on toast with beautiful salat and filet de perche from the lake fits for a Michelin star restaurant. add the extremely friendly, pleasant and efficient service and there they have it. beautiful experience."
